Suspension for a perfectly legal hit. I’ve been watching the Panthers since 2023 and never seen such a benign play result in a suspension.

Out of everything that has gone down, that one getting the toughest punishment is weird. We make fun of him, he had a rough first game back, but the truth is, as last night shows, he's a pivotal player for us and needs to be in the lineup. It keeps things in synch. And we desperately need that chemistry back. Finish it tomorrow, then he will only be lost 1 rd 2 game.

So even with PoMo playing the wait and see game with Barkov’s injury after the Hagel hit, I’m assuming the NHL knew of Barkov’s probability to play the next game, which is why Hagel got only a game. It has to be because the Hagel hit was worse.
