The important question here is...

...is this thread made of comeback magic?

No, it's made of street magic.

Yep, after the November presidential election, we all found out how terrible polls really are.

13th game out of 30 where opposing teams have sent out their back-up against the Canes. In past seasons, that at least didn't start happening until the after the new year.

He was an established and apparently popular sci-fi writer in the revamped 1985, so maybe his 1970's preminence in the field had killed Star Wars as a franchise as stillborn because the film was never made as Lucas' backlash against the killer cop films the kids were all about back then.

So, presumably no Raiders of the Lost Ark either. I'm all for sending killer robots after George McFly to the past. We are the 2010's, we do that now.

Ah but if you remember his first novel was in 85 at the end of the film. So while he may have been a known quantity as a sci-fi script writer by that point, I'm not sure it would have had enough of an impact to prevent George Lucas from becoming a thing.

So coming back to the original question, most likely his reaction to seeing Star Wars in 1977 was to stand up, leave the theater, drive home, and throw his manuscript of "The Adventures of Darth Vader" in the trash.

...

I have to recall all of the Power of Love to not throw things around and curse. I did not remember. Stupid first novel.

My cyborg built to the likeness of Henry Winkler was *this* close to being operational and ready to go back in time and take him down and crisp his gloves.
