Speculation: The Future of David Rundblad

Apparently he was loaned to Zurich last year. So if he mutually agreed to terminate his contract, he probably did it to sign a deal in Europe instead of risking the Hawks not loaning him and him having to ride busses in the AHL.

I can't see why he'd terminate his 1M 1 way deal to sign a 2 way contract somewhere else in the NHL. He probably had the opportunity to sign a longer term deal somewhere like Switzerland or Sweden where he'd still make mid 6 figures and be a big star for whichever team signs him.

Seems like a guy who is done for good in the NHL but will go to Europe and be a big star in a different league. He had a lot of success in the SHL when he was younger.

What's the upside at this point? Toolsy players who bust are a dime a dozen in the nhl. Every team has at least one of those guys in the system already. That said, someone will at least give him a tryout. He'll get cut and head to Europe.

whats worse is that the 2nd rounder the yotes got in exchange for runbland turned out to be christian dvorak!

His biggest problem has been that he felt that he was a success before accomplished anything. He stopped working on his game, or atleast it has looked like it. He used to play for my team in the SHL and during the year when he was loaned to Zurich he wanted to come home first but they(Skellefteå AIK) said no, because he wasn't fit enough. If he worked outo more and realize what he needs to work on in his game I think he can still become a good PP specialist and a good top-6 d-man. I also hope that Oilers gives him a try out if they can't find something else. I belive he is going to the KHL though.

Oilers will sign Rundblad and Tim Erixon. Reunion time

Klefbom - Larsson
Erixon - Rubdblad

God how he turned out to be such a disappointment. The Sens hype train was far too much, glad we managed to offload him for Turris #Steal
