Did you start drinking before pubity?

Actually, yes. I was 11. School was a difficult time for me socially, but my mum forced me to go every day bc she was a schoolteacher. She was tough as nails but she is the best teacher I ever had as well.

We butted heads a LOT younger. I guess the kids nowadays are called “Oppositionally Defiant” but I just called her out when I felt like she was being a Hippocrate to my younger brothers.

Don’t let my cynicism fool you, I’m a huge softie IRL

Kinda' feel for Finns. At the end of the day, they're a very small country. And while their top-end players are world-class, the lack of depth really shows in a tournament like this.

And the loss of a blue-chipper like Miro Heiskanen on the blueline is just too big a blow to overcome. Lankinen could be under siege.....but nothing he's not used to this season in Vancouver. I'm pulling for him.
Yeah.

The finnish jr system is in trouble.

The top of the lineup players that sort of mask the true state of the system, like Barkov/Aho/Rantanen/Heiskanen have had to find their own path, instead of being results of the finnish prospect developement system.

Add that to the fact we are a small nation AND that the popularity of hockey is on the down swing among kids. Other sports are gaining and hockey is loosing.

The result is where we are now. Not much in the way of young prospects coming up or to be drafted in the near future.

Sadly enough this is only the fourth team this meager tournament could muster up. A rather paltry representation.

Well, anytime the NHL organizes anything, it usually ends up being good. But...The wheels of democracy sadly swing too close to the mud.

The only reason we enjoy Bettman being booed now is because he's completely embraced the heel role.

The All Star games were an awful facade. This is better in comparison but still pretty weak ass. No Russia makes world hockey kind of boring as does only 4 teams. I guess there wasn't enough Czech, German, Slovaks, Rest of World, in the NHL to make it at least a minimum 8 team tourney. Should have had included other players outside the NHL but I guess this is not a good time for a full scale tournament as other leagues wouldn't release players.

Ultimately I can't wait for real NHL hockey to return. This is an pretty long break unfortunately.

Dude in exactly 2 weeks the NBA is going to be wondering where the f*** they went wrong, and the answer is not trying to poach Bettman back to the NBA when they have the very instant. But, Bettman is far too loyal a man to ever go back to someone who didn't believe in him.

God. I love that Count Chocula f***er.

I think you could make the argument that the Czechs, Slovaks and even the Swiss are catching up fast to Finland as a hockey nation.

There's a lot of great NHL hockey players who aren't even eligible to play in this Four Nations tournament like Draisaitl, Pastrnak, Necas, Hischier, Fiala etc, simply based on their nationality.

Of course Russia is still on the outs with the IIHF, so all of the Russian NHL players are taking a two-week break. They might actually end up being the lucky ones, coming back for the NHL stretch run rested and refreshed.

Forwards
Chris Kunitz – Sidney Crosby – Jeff Carter
John Tavares – Ryan Getzlaf – Corey Perry
Rick Nash – Jonathan Toews – Patrick Sharp
Jamie Benn – Patrice Bergeron – Patrick Marleau
Extras: Martin St. Louis, Matt Duchene

Defence
Duncan Keith – Shea Weber
Jay Bouwmeester – Alex Pietrangelo
Marc-Edouard Vlasic – Drew Doughty
Extras: Dan Hamhuis, P.K. Subban

i think this was one of the best roster canada constructed had for the olympics. prime defenseman young fast. goalies were exceptional. price/luongo. allowed 4 goals in 6 games, never more than 1 in a game) and never trailed the entire tournament.

It would be nice to have some talent on a team Canada one day.

Jim Sandlak, Team Canada's Captain & selected as the tournament's best forward. A strong performance led to a series of events that set back the franchise DECADES.

eg., Influencing factor (at least in the mind of Jack Gordon) in the Canucks dealing Cam Neely & a first round pick for Barry Pederson).

And look who was likely available for the Canucks to selection in that year's 1st round we gave up:

(hint: look at who was taken 15th overall)

Course we had a guy in a high position amateur scouting in BC who had worse vision than Stevie Wonder so there's no guarantee we would've picked Burnaby Joe anyhow.

They just came second at the world juniors.
