One of my favorite players ever. He matured so much in his mid 20's and completely changed the reputation he had as a whiner. McDavid on the other hand is 28 and still whines to the officials more than any other player in the league. Supremely talented player, but so easy to dislike. He will never build a legacy close to Crosby.

Everything I highlighted in bold font is part of the issue. When a team makes you their franchise players you’re also supposed to come with certain built in expectations.

You drive play.
You tilt the ice in your teams favour.
You don’t go through long periods of poor play.
You’re low maintenance.
You’re not a headcase.
you’re supposed to be a professional.

You’re supposed to be a low maintenance, high performing player consistently.

He’s just to much of a headache in all regards.

That all is why I wish the team would just move on. He’s a massive distraction in to many facets.

He needs to be our forward version of Hughes.

You'd seriously sell out your loyalty to a guy who doubled down to be here?

That's not the behaviour of a sustainable winning organization. It's why Vegas took so long to win after coming a hair in their expansion season. It's an investment, if you want to lose money on it, I can't make your own decisions for you.

I guess I have a bit of bias since I have MacKinnon and Doughty in my keeper pool 😅

Agreed with Marchand. The more I watch his off ice interviews, the more I like the guy even though he was hated in 2011.

It’s a mutual agreement. We pay you to do this. The team is paying him. It’s him who’s not upholding his end. It’s a business. The team is paying him almost 140 million Canadian dollars.

You know what’s a great example:

If your ever in trouble legally go hire the best lawyer in your city.

He/she will sit you down and say. Don’t worry. I got everything from here forward. He/She is a one stop high end service. Set it and forget it

That’s what he needs to be. You paid me now let me do my thing. Unfortunately he can’t really do anything. Theirs to much drama always surrounding him. That also becomes toxic at some point.

Nah, his agent is the lawyer. He just plays hockey. I hope he figures it out, he's going to win a Cup one day. I hope it's here and we don't drive him away because we have zero loyalty or patience as fans.

Thus far I can say I'm only mildly surprised by the game's turnout so far. Definitely thought Binnington would be able to channel his nerves better by now.

If you owned a business would you allow your highest paid employee to under perform for a year?
 
Lines for Sweden look better in the third and they pot 2. Swedes edge in D and G has outperformed the Canadian edge in F who haven't done anything outside of the McD/Mack/Sid group.

If Cassidy/DeBoer are willing to drop Thompson for this tourney, you wonder for the Olympics next year.
