Watching McDavid play with the other best players in the world has me thinking two things.

1) he is the the most skilled player out there. The talent is clear

2) he doesn’t think the game as well as the other top players. It seems when Crosby or Mack have the puck they are thinking 3-4 steps ahead, vs McDavid is using his superior skill the reacting to what happens.
I've never seen McDavid make a pass like Sid did on the MacK goal. Backhand, no look, right on the tape for basically a tap in. When McDavid's speed falls off, his game will follow, because, as you said, his hockey IQ is very good, but not elite compared to the elite.

Draisaitl is the perfect foil for him. He's slower, stronger, and smarter.

Binnington sucks.

I don't really care about this tournament but can't help subconsciously cheering for Sweden.

Crosby is one of the 3-4 smartest players to ever play the game. McJesus gets by on his physical skill more than his IQ.
