GDT: The Four Nations Tournament Thread

as much as it pains me to say, but that was a great goal by marchand

To be fair he had the easiest job of everyone…

I guess this explains Canada's strategy of just not giving up any shots.

I'm not a "hater", and I'm curious to see (some of) the hockey, without any concern for the outcome. I just don't care about international hockey because there aren't enough countries that play it seriously and the talent distribution is so uneven (not to mention the population distribution... there are more than twice as many Ohians as Finns for goodness sake). An All-Star Game with stakes would be much closer to true best-on-best.

I don’t know, how many countries can actually compete at the highest level of any sport? Even the World Cup, while many countries earn bids, how many are actually contenders? There is also definitely some small population countries there that can compete.

Game def quieted down in the latter ten minutes but not a single chance created by Sweden that period.

And there isn’t the firepower to do more.

Petey right at home in a forward group unwilling to drive the middle. He might be the only Swede to touch Binnington's blue paint.

Canada looks like a group of guys really excited to play together and actually prepped for this. Canada vs USA might involve both teams killing each other - tough but lucky that Quinn's out.

Feel bad for Zibanejad getting turnstiled by McDavid but I'd drop him for Petey or JEE at this point.

Yeah, he needs that back in his game. But then he’ll go park himself in front of the net like he’s Joshua. But if he’s the only one doing it for Sweden, I guess that’s something.

Just do it with the puck like you used to man hopefully he’s able to un-monstars himself one day

Sweden is running D to W breakout but at no point getting the puck back to the middle. Not impressed with Kempe or Forsberg so far. I think running Petey and Willy as a pair is their best shot at generating anything.

Hedman looks very bad.
I think Hedman's played fine given the difference in pace between the teams. Brodin looks like the best defensive D since Hjalmarsson or Vlasic.
