If he can play hockey it's not a degenerative tendon. There's so much to criticize when it comes to Petey right now so I won't rehash it - but I will see basketball and volleyball players that put way more high impact load on their patellar tendon recover nearly 100% and then some following tendonitis.
The moment the off-season starts he needs to be going back to the basics of heavy strengthening with no plyometrics for 6-8 wks and then get back on the ice. Oh - and go see a therapist if he hasn't because the stress of massively underachieving on his contract is a lot.
And yes, you as someone who's sitting on their ass typing on a hockey forum, have a different mentality when it comes to hockey and identity than someone like Petey. From our vantage point it's kind of pathetic to be earning that much money and having copious stress playing a SPORT when others earn faaaar less and have way more "meaningful" stresses in their jobs. But this is elite sports - a weird context all together.
