I didn’t think about the ambassador angle and you may very well be right about that. Unfortunately, you probably remember who took over for him while he was gone.

Even in that situation, I’m getting Jim Carrey/Jeff Daniels vibes if you get my drift.
I do get it- not sure which one is dumber. 🤤

Joe Douglas fired today. Not a surprise but this means Woody will pick the new GM before he gets his ambassador job back.
Not a great job. Either you come in and run another year with Rodgers at QB or you move off him and figure out the $49 mill remaining in cap charges on him, plus need to find a QB, but in this draft, it's not great. Nothing really in free agency. Jets banked on these 2 seasons to do something, pushing $49 mill of the $75 mill paid of cap charges into the future.

My biggest gripe with Douglas was committing to Becton for too long and not addressing the O-line / backup QB last season.

Not entirely his fault that Rodgers tore his Achilles on the 4th play of the game in an 'all-in' season. That injury significantly affected him this season as well. And not surprising considering his age...

Douglas built a respectable roster but in the end, you need to win games.

Douglas was in a tough spot having Wilson and moving on to Rodgers. It didn't work out, but what was he going to do, run it back with Wilson for a 3rd season? They spoke with Carr but he didn't want the NY media, so opted for NO. Can't say I would blame him if the money was close. I would take less if I didn't like one part of the team and surroundings.

None of the other QBs from that class worked out in Lance, Fields, Jones. Even Lawrence is having issues. The next year was the Pickett draft with Willis and Corral going in round 3. Then, the following year, Outside of Stroud, Young has issues with his size, Richardson is raw both on the field and maturity wise, Levis makes too many stupid mistakes trying to do too much.

It was simply slim pickings at QB these past years after moving off Darnold.

So in hindsight the Jets should have kept Darnold?

No, they didn’t have a Kevin O’Connell to work with him. Raiders have had Carr, Jimmy g, Minschew as their starters the past 3 seasons. Indy went from Brissett, to Rivers, to Wentz, to Ryan. NFL has a shortage of good QBs.

I get why Douglas made the Rodgers move. No other real options.

I think the lesson here is the offensive coordinator and head coach mean as much as the QB.

Watching Aaron Rodgers play is like going to a concert by an act you remember from the 70’s and 80’s.

He can’t hit the high notes anymore.

He’s also hard to like which makes it even more painful.

Typical Jets move beating the Jags last week to f up their draft position. Just a few years ago they won 2 of the their last few games to fall into the Zach Wilson slot and miss selecting Trevor Lawrence. Yes, Lawrence has been disappointing and hurt but he’ll still be a quality starter in the league if someone can get an O line behind him.

The Jets are now in a tie for the 7th worst record and if they had lost the Jags game they’d be tied for second worst. They’d screw it up anyway I suppose.

Now we have the pleasure of listening to a washed up Aaron Rodgers berate his teammates about subpar efforts. That’s rich.

A controversial opinion likely but I think the Jets would have won more games with Tyrod at QB instead of primmadonna Rogers

He’s the Duran Duran of Quarterbacks

At least there is still 1 professional football team in New York . When I was a young pup my mom took me to get a winter jacket . I told her I wanted Buffalo Bills because OJ was my favorite player ….. LGI
