Post-Series Talk: The Florida Panthers defeat the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-3 (mod warning in OP)

I've been a huge Marner fan from the start. I have a Marner jersey. I have Marner on my fantasy squad. I've defended him for the past few years when fans/media sagged on him. I loved seeing him on the PK, and he's great to watch with his passing skill.

I hate him.

I don't hate easily. I've hated maybe 3 leafs since the Sundin era.

I hate Marner.

He's a pathetic little whiny piece of trash. He's going to walk as a free agent, and I'm glad. I wouldn't want him to stay on this team for free. Him wearing a letter on his jersey for years is a disgrace. He's not a leader, he's a quitter. I've seen more guts in 11 year kids. Marner can't even pretend to be a Leafs fan when he's just a greedy loser. He put more effort into contract egotiating than any playoff game.

Enjoy your payday in Utah, Mitch, or whatever team pays you for the regular season stats. I hope I never see you in a Leaf jersey again, you money grubbing choker.
Been watching since the 50’s. The Leafs have had some great players. I’d say Marner and Matthews would rank right up there with the best Leafs ever. But the previous greats were respected and likeable. I’m not seeing these two great talents as respected and likeable.

The funniest thing in this thread is the fans of the other 27 teams who have been eliminated, trying to roast us lmao

Yeah we're disappointed we lost, but Sens/Habs fans having a party ? LOL
Your right we are having a great time. The Habs weren't suppose to make the playoffs while the Leafs from what i keep hearing were going to the finals.
Ya as a Habs fan i am LMFAO

I was really hoping the Leafs could get the monkey off their back. Game 6, the rise of Pappy, I thought the team would ride the momentum into game 7. It's going to be interesting to see what the team does to the roster. They aren't that far off, it would be really easy to screw this up, but they have some great bargaining chips. At least they almost got to the conference final.

Imo the Leafs will take a big step backwards losing Marner. It’s not so easy to replace 100 point players, who are first over the boards on the PK, and play an excellent 200 foot game.

Wish they would have kept their 1sts and minten

Congrats Florida. Another hard pill to swallow for Leafs Nation in game 7 but you proved again why the Panthers are the champs until proven otherwise.

Got a chance to meet some cool Panthers fans in here during the series with some good laughs, navigating through the trolls, both teams having their good moments and some fun back and forth chirping for 7 games.

Good luck against Carolina...

Both deadline acquisitions, Laughton and Carlo, were awful in the playoffs.

Rantanen for Marner would have been huge, but Mitch the Regular Season Bitch decided to pull a Tavares
Can’t blame the player for that. Blame the GM that gave him the NTC, or the GM that didn’t trade him before it kicked in.

Brad Marchand is 37 years old. Just this past offseason alone he had three surgeries: Elbow tendon, groin sports hernia, abdominal sports hernia. God knows how many other he's had over his career.

Still a fantastic player but he's on back nine overall.

So, all things considered, if you had to pick a regular season player between Marchand, Nylander, Tavares, Marner, and Matthews (at their current age/health), you would clearly pick Nylander, Marner, and Matthews over Marchand at this stage.

However, you need a player for Game 7 playoffs? It's Marchand over Nylander, Matthews, Marner, and Tavares every single day of the week and twice on Sunday.

And therein lies the problem with the Core Four. No pulse when it counts.
