Prospect Info: The First Annual Jaster Prospect Ranking List

Jaster’s dead? I have been praying for his demise since the RWC days so this is terrific news! Hopefully it wasn’t anything too painful.

Anyway,

ASP
Danielson
Augustine
Buchelnikov
MBN
Cossa
Lombardi
Wallinder
Mazur
Johansson

RIP Jaster!

We hope not. I meant it as a "Hey, where's Jaster?" thing and hoping it would entice him to say hi at some point. He's been a fixture at Wings forums for 20 years, and I really don't want to add another to the long list of posters who have just disappeared over time.

No, I took it as an attempt at humor for sure lol.

I pretty much agree with this list. The only thing I might change is switching your order of Plante and Lombardi. Real toss up though.

He decided not to cover for pinching Stuart, when Talbot scored second...

Reasoning wasnt neccessary, but i feel like it might be needed.

I essentially started off with ranking the players who i see as the highest chance of making NHL, the top-5 i see as players with very high likelyhood of becoming NHL regulars in some capacity. After top-5 i start seeing question marks, and i try to weigh these questions marks against their potential.

Alright folks, here it is. We're going to do this like Jaster proposed, and just post your top 10 to 20 prospects, or message them to me if you don't want to publicly share. The list will be created with a point system weighted inversely from where they are listed, so

1=20 points
2-19 points
3=18 points
etc.

List posting will be open for a week, from today thru next Saturday (2/9 to 2/15). I might close the thread until I have the results to post. Might not. We'll wait and see how it goes and if anyone has any strong feelings about it. I figure we'll then do another prospect ranking after the draft, maybe do separate polls for that since it'll be summer and no hockey to scream about.

I could also present my results, with different ranking system I'll use as a base for NHL entry draft.

I'll calculate ranking averages by position. Will be interesting to see if the final results are any different, than with 20-19-18.. etc points system.

Why in the world would you abandon hope with NDN?

Him and MBN are like 6 months apart and having pretty similar seasons in the SHL.

If anything, NDN is extremely underrated… imo.

Do you have an area between top of the lineup and hopefuls, but don't see anyone in that space? (Top 6, Top 4 vs Bottom 6, Last pairing?

Those are all guys who I think have really legit chances of being an NHLer. I wont say I'm surprised if some of them don't obviously, but these guys 13 deep are all legit. That's so deep. After this group, there's guys who might play too but I just didn't rank them.

Buchelnikov and Buium are probably the biggest risers over the last season, hard to rank Lombardi any higher but if he had kept playing the way he did before he was hurt I think he could have passed MBN and Mazur for me. Kisskinen is a new add this year, but he just keeps scoring at high levels of play. He might just become one of those guys with a knack for scoring that just hang around the league for a while
