Yeah, sure, I'm the one with the agenda...Surely you dont honestly think this is something you can use as evidence. Just using this dishonest card becase it fits your agenda.

Marner is one of the only players that is around Petterson's level that is theoretically available. His rights would probably be traded for things that we don't want to give up. And would cost 13-14 in cap. He's also 27 and a right winger.Isn’t this thread about the opportunity cost of $11.5m and saying what could you do with that money?
So asking if you would give up Petey + $2m for Marner kind of makes sense.
So your answer is no. You would just keep Pet
Ok.Yeah, sure, I'm the one with the agenda...

Rantenen is 28, is also a right winger and would cost 13-14+.
Are these the situations you are dying to get Pettersons 11.6 off the books for ? At least they are high ceiling moves and are still better than a glorified Miller trade.
But I think the point stands. Petterson is already here , is a centre , is 11.6 and not 13+ and just turned 26. That 11.6 is best to stay right where it is.
A mentally troubled powerplay specialist!?!Watching Pettersson try to get the zone on the PP with 12:50 left in a tie game is embarrassing.
He stops to avoid getting hit, and dumps it in only to not chase so SJS exit and go on a 2 on 2 against.
They give up on the 1st unit, bring Suter and Joshua on. Suter carries into the zone sets it up and Joshua drives the net and scores.
There are many players who are greatly outperforming Pettersson right now for less than a quarter of his cap hit…
A few more weeks of this and Petey will be viewed in a similar light to Patrick Laine.

You are giving EP way too much credit here. Apologist.
I would say a better comparison is my grandmother who just moved in to a rest home. A kind but frail thing whose memory is no longer what it used to be.
If he can only do it during the summer the obvious solution is to put him on LTIR and start his 'summer' right now. It's not doing him or the team any good running him out there like everything's normal if he's playing hurt.Eventually yes he will.
He hasn’t changed his “fundamental” skating technique but it’s almost as if he’s taking power skating lessons for the first time in his life.
He’s working extremely hard at distributing that “power” through both legs and not his dominant left (the broken one) leg but unfortunately he’s lost his first step and top end speed because of it.
This will take time and probably won’t return this season because you can’t build body strength during a ongoing NHL season and can only do it during the summer.
As his lower body strength improves, he will become stronger on his skates, the speed will improve and the old EP40 should return.
Interesting how you brought up Laine. He has been injured and had personal issues. His talent never went awayWatching Pettersson try to get the zone on the PP with 12:50 left in a tie game is embarrassing.

And what are you going to do with the cap space ? Sign Mackinnon ?Its a totally sunk cost right now.
12M in dead CAP
Interesting how you brought up Laine. He has been injured and had personal issues. His talent never went away
Even Pierre Luc Dubois. The Kings traded him at rock bottom. His talent never went away either.
And Petterson is at a whole other level better than either of these guys. But this time , the talent went away ?
Agree with PuckMunchkin here , not concerned how this season plays out for him as much as I am concerned with next season
Players have bad stretches some have bad years
What we’ve seen from him is the same magic we see consistently with Hughes, it’s easy to forget that but we have seen it
2 x 6 M dollar players would be better right now.And what are you going to do with the cap space ? Sign Mackinnon ?
He's been PPG for all but 2021. So your ratio is offlol, NHL's version of Space Jam.
If we do keep EP40, it's my expectation to already assume he'll show up 4 out of the 8 seasons he's signed on for. He's also been consistently inconsistent throughout his career, it's not just this 1 season. With massive 1st to 4th liner swings. Let's just hope when Canucks are ready to make that big push, it'll be on one of those 4 years he's not slumping.
