This is what we hear day in, day out. 11.6. Even the national media is getting in on it. 32 Thoughts or Real Kyper, they all said 11.6 today.

It is implied that we are incurring this huge opportunity cost with Pettersons contract. As if there's 10 other PPG centers available that could be in his spot. And taking his money. Well guess what.. There isn't.

What if we divided his money by 2. That means we can sign two 5.8 million dollar players. Who are these guys ? Who are the two 5.8 million dollar players that are a better bet than a struggling Petterson ? Petterson has scored at a 30+ goal pace for all but one season of his 6 year career. 2021 was the outlier. And he got through it.

We got a taste of what a meh trade is for a 100 point player. It seems like some Canucks fans want another meh trade for another 100 point player. Why ?

This is really going to happen isn't it. God help us.

This is where I think the is fair criticism of Rutherford, etc.

It's not like this disagreement in cultural fit just appeared. You should probably have decided whether or not this difference in fit was tenable before committing 8 years nearly 100m to them.

Allvin isn't specifically named, so is there a disagreement between GM and President? If so, does Allvin want to make a coaching change but can't?

At least you didn't invent a new excuse for EP40. Just ignored his struggles completely. I guess that's a step up.

Not meaning to pick on you, just using your comment here as I have seen it a few times.

I hate this argument… Oh it’s an excuse. No one here thinks Petey is playing well, the conversation is why is he not playing well. Will he be able to bounce back.

Petey is playing bad, but if we can understand why, maybe we can predict if we should keep him, or if we should cut bait, or if we should get him a physiologist, or a better doctor trainer coach or whatever.

It’s like why didn’t player X score… because the goalie made a save…. Well that’s just an excuse. His stick broke… that’s just an excuse… it’s
Juulsen and he has no NHL offensive talent… ok that might just be a fact.

Every GDT there are people who go "look at that pass he made, he's back" then after a week of little to no offensive production, they parade these ridiculously reductive charts showing how efficient he is as a way to deflect. EP40 was at the bottom of those charts last game, you wouldn't know that here though because they weren't posted because that wouldn't fit in the narrative being constructed.

If his skating has been slowed down for an entire year and through an off-season then maybe, just maybe, that's who he is now and we need to cut bait before we are tied and feathered to that potentially albatross contract.

Hell, EP40 was suppose to be back because Miler isn't on the team anymore. 15 points in 10 games without Miller were being paraded around the Canucks discussion boards as proof. So is it injuries or is it Miller? If it's both then how did he get 15 points in those 10 games while injured?

Maybe read my post on the management page for more details… but half of what you describe is again things we are trying to discover to see what’s the best steps moving forward… and through all of this he has played great defensive hockey. It’s clearly not good enough, but should also be noted.

There's also something to be said about a star player with many years ahead of him, vs. a mid-70s president and option-year coach who may not even be around the organization much longer. We don't want this to be a "Keenan comes in and changes everything then gets fired" situation.
