Or the 'The team is really fundimentally ****ed up, what should we do to fix it' thread.

If you think a new wing will do it I want to hear about it.

New System.

New Coach.

Fire Shero.

Trade Crosby.

Play Boychuck more.

Draft more defensemen.

Leave things the way they are.

Let's hear what you think this team needs to do to be an actual cup contender and not a paper tiger.

We're missing Evgeni Malkin and we're second in the conference. I'm finding it rather hard to panic given those two facts.

Call me if/when we lose in the first round again, then I'll be right on board with the panic train.

For me, the coach just needs to go. I'm sick and tired of Bylsma, and I've felt that way for a long time. Zero accountability, zero game planning, zero teaching ability, zero ability to learn and adapt, etc.

Great regular season coach, terrible playoff coach.

What about this regular season juggernaut that shows the same red flags as the other regular season juggernauts that exited the playoffs early makes you think this time it will be different in the playoffs? What makes you confident to say that? And, if you're not confident, then shouldn't you be panicked?

Think about it . . . when this organization has lost Jaded-Fan's confidence, it's time to panic. :scared:

Well I do believe that this team shows some flaws that will make advancing in the playoffs difficult and have said so before.

But I just wanted to create a thread with a ghostbusters quote to be totally honest.

For those who didn't catch the bumped Lindy Ruff thread, some of us were saying the same stuff about Bylsma's limitations 27 months ago that we are saying today. Two one and done's and another one and done on the horizon later, some people continue to preach patience still. Economists call this the sunk cost effect.

I wasn't quite at this point 27 months ago... I was close... but I certainly am now.

He's gotta go. Every subsequent game he's behind the bench, Shero is wasting Crosby's and Malkin's prime years.

I'm done with Bylsma.

Now revealed for the first time, the entirety of the Bylsma interview of Granato for assistant coach:

Bylsma: Do you believe in UFOs, astral projections, mental telepathy, ESP , clairvoyance, spirit photography, telekinetic movement, full trance mediums, the Loch Ness monster, the theory of Atlantis, the infinite power of the grinder over talent, the inadequacy of the European player, the suppression of top prospects, the stretch pass, and getting to our game?

Granato: Ah, if there's a steady paycheck in it, I'll believe anything you say.

Every team has red flags. Even good teams choke a lot in the playoffs. Even dynasties do. The New Jersey Devils and Detroit Red Wings dynasties choked constantly in the playoffs. Sure they each won a bunch of cups, but they had their share of ugly upsets.

Not saying I don't want Ray Shero to address our issues. Obviously we could use more forward depth, and obviously Bylsma should be on a short leash given some of the repeated problems that have plagued this team for years now.

Panic though? No.

The team is obviously flawed. The commitment to defense and a playing a physical game is horrible. It needs more things than they will be able to get at the trade deadline. More skill/scoring from 3rd and 4th lines, physical players defense&forwards, shutdown pairing, pp qb and a penalty killer or 2. Not to mention a 2nd line winger and new coach.

All that said, Sid and Geno will score enough, and MAF will play enough outstanding games to have a good regular season record.

Fire Shero. Hire someone from this forum. Fire Bylsma. Hire Paul Westerberg. This team needs to get in touch with middle American melancholia if it's going to win. Force Lemieux and Burkle to sell the team to Donald Sterling.

Crosby, Neal, and Despres to NYI for Tavares, Grabner, MacDonald, and Strait.
Malkin, Letang, and a first to TB for Lecavalier, Conacher, Connolly, and Hedman.
Fleury to Minnesota for Harding and a second.
2014 first to Winnipeg for Tangradi.
Orpik to Anaheim for Lovejoy.
Niskanen and Kennedy to Minnesota for Clutterbuck and a fourth.
Vokoun to Buffalo for a conditional seventh.
Waive Cooke and Dupuis.
Call up Sill, MacIntyre, Farnham, Grant, and Zatkoff permanently.

Win Cups.

And herein lies the problem.

Coach has no clue what he is doing it seems, GM either doesn't want to see it or hopes it changes soon.

Which is more concerning?

After two years plus of watching the same stupid errors, same fail system, same drop passes to nowhere, I propose that we need to cross the streams.

What are the odds we can work Crosby into a 4 way trade for 7 1st round draft picks this year?

I think it's worth trying. Also, Calgary traded for Brian McGrattan and signed Ryan O'Reilly to an offer sheet. Why aren't we doing that? Why didn't we sign every free agent available this past summer? Based on what Flyers fans have said, the league lets the Penguins get first crack and everybody, so Shero must have passed and twiddled his thumbs.

Why didn't we claim DiPietro off waivers?

The team is just in a rut lately but skids like this happen every year. The team has the same needs it had when it was on a winning streak and that's another winger that can create some offense on his own and a stay at home D partner for Letang that can also play tough around the net. Move Niskanen or Despres as the trade bait for the winger and use the other as the #5 D. Rent a D-Man like Regehr. I don't think the coach is getting fired. That's not realistic, imo. Earliest he gets canned is if we have another one and done playoff performance.

Its nice to have uncle gary on our side

i was thinking we chop Crosby into a bunch of pieces. send his left wrist to here and his right leg there. like Medieval Christian relics and reliquaries - you know how they used to keep preserved body parts of saints - like St. Stephen of Hungary's right forearm or the head of St. Thomas Aquinas.

The largest reliquary outside the Vatican is St. Anthony's in Pittsburgh. Perhaps we should be making pilgrimages.

For his sake, I hope he has a NMC in his contract.
