The guy has been allowed to play 20 minutes in the last 3 weeks. He’s being afforded an opportunity to get his legs under him and get some confidence.

Trashed? I do remember a few comments having to do with you saying Korpi is the "REAL DEAL". Don't know about the rest.

And I give you a little credit. Korpi has made your extreme praise of him stand up for a few weeks now. I still think he's just an average NHL goalie that can win some games for your team. But he's certainly been on a nice little roll.

Regardless if Korpi got hurt or not this team was not making the playoffs this year. They've gone on a little run the last eight or nine games and what has that got them. They are still on pace for 88 points and at best a tenth place finish. And they are in a very tough division. I'll take the under.

So now I get to see if Elvis is an NHL goalie or not. Not really the way I wanted it to happen. (I'll save my Torts rant for the fire Torts thread).

Hope for a speedy recovery for Korpi. Really too bad. He was playing really well.
 
Hello Guys !

I know that Merzlinkins is a good goalie. (i have no vested interest ... but i saw him playing in Switzerland and .. observed him in international games).

Why doesn't Torts send him to AHL for some 10 or 20 games for adjustment at least ? ( he is doing badly !! and probably not better than the 1st goalie of Cleveland would do in NHL in case Korpi needs to be pulled !!) (then he is also coming straight from a bigger ice surface rink !! an adjustment is warranted !!! most have it !! ). I don't understand Torts. And so far, Merzlikins won 0 games !! 0 !!

He’s about to get 10 games in the NHL so sending him to Cleveland is a moot point right now.
 
Vehvilainen going to get some nhl time at some point with Korpisalo out?

I know they called up Kivlenieks but what’s the point of that?!

If they moved vv up it would create another goalie competition and hurt elvis confidence even more. By calling up kiv it says we believe in you elvis. Give the kid a real shot. If he flops then vv will be called up!!

That's my guess

VV get games too. he need to stop sharing them. kinda the same with elvis. they both have no american experience prior to this.

VV will get all the games in Cleveland. If he gets tired Thiessen will get a game. Bringing him to Columbus would hamper him, not help.

Yeah I was wondering the same thing as VV himself is similar age to Kivlenieks with more pro experience to boot but then again Elvis deserves the starts behind Korpi or to challenge Korpi today.

VV deserves games in the Ahl right now while Kivs is up.

Columbus have a great situation going for goaltenders right now.

Merzlikins catching up with Korpisalo.
I am sure he will end up at least at paar with Korpisalo. Merzlikins is good. I don't see why it shouldn't translate on NA ice size. Players can have a problem, but for goalies it is only a question of adjustment. Angles.

And Columbus having 3 good goalies for a budget of 3 mio
