Getting older + knee injuries is a bad combo. He was a really solid player for the bruins for a couple years, totally bought in to being a third liner for us in 2023 and was one of the few players that didn't looks like they were playing with a full diaper after we went up 3-1 against the panthers. Sucks the way things have gone for him since then.

he isnt a 6 million guy anymore but is still a 3-4 million guy imo. It also probably doesnt help that he isnt getting consistent ice time with bedard and is expected to drive the offense on a line with foligno and bertuzzi...

I never understood why he chose Arizona and then Buffalo... if he got traded from the Devils to a legit top tier contender (like going directly from NJ to Boston) at the time and then signed a long term extension with them, maybe the stability and being surrounded by talent would have allowed him to age a little more gracefully.

He didn’t choose Arizona, he was traded there in his last RFA season.

He then hit the UFA market at the worst time with the frozen COVID cap.

He turned cheaper deals with Colorado and Boston, which was where he made a mistake.

He went to Buffalo because he was stupid and unlucky, which is basically the story of his career.

1) Buffalo offered him 8m. Boston was rumored to have offered him 6m and they eventually did give him 6m/4 years.

2) He thought playing with Eichel would be enough to pump his numbers but Eichel had his Season in Hell. Eichel started the year injured, got more banged up, and then it ended after 21 GP with the infamous neck injury.

3) He was excited to be coached by Ralph Krueger again, “who got the most out of him Edmonton”. Krueger didn’t get the most out of anyone, including Hall, in one of the worst coaching debacles I’ve ever seen.

Hall was shocked that he got scratched because he never got sat down and shown video when he has as many points as Tyler Bertuzzi this year. He's dumber than a sack of rocks.

Healthy scratched by Chicago last night.

2g/6 pts in 17gp... Had 36 pts in 61 gp two years ago with Boston. That 94 pt MVP season with NJ looks like a flash in the pan for what's turned out to be a very mid career by a 1st overall pick.

What happened to him? Too many injuries, not a high enough compete level?
If I recall, and I admit it's been awhile since their draft years, but I believe I recall reading many of the "pundits" say that Taylor Hall was the more NHL ready "right now" player but that with his speed being his biggest attribute, his career would be shorter than Tyler's and in the end, Tyler Sequin would be the better overall pick between the two. Seems to have played out exactly that way.

There could still be something in the tank. Connor Brown took 56 games to look like an NHL player after missing pretty much a full season to injury just like Hall did last year.

Taylor Hall is like a pure athlete, so it actually makes sense he would drop off as his athleticism decreased

A bit surprised he dropped off so fast, but he is one of those guys that played reckless and I wonder if it caught up to him.

He wasn’t MVP material.

So the hart is for the mvp of a single team? In 32 team league?

"I was surprised. It was unexpected, from the standpoint of I just didn't know I was even close to being in that spot, really," said Hall on Monday. "If there were some conversations in the days leading up about my game, or if I was constantly being shown video, that would be one thing. So I was a bit surprised."

I remember Michal Handzus retroactively apologizing to Kings fans about his post-ACL tear season. He said something to the effect that he could physically play 12 months after the surgery but he didn't really feel 100% until 18 months.

Tom Wilson similar timeline. First year post-ACL was underwhelming, looks much better this year

For a team that is in dire need of offensive production, he has been mostly ineffective.

I know the Hawks are not good but he’s essentially contributing as a third liner on that team which is not good enough for what is expected of the caliber of player he is.
