While he's always has been relentless on the forecheck and well trusted in his own zone, he's added quite a bit of playmaking to his game this season and I'm definitely diggin' on it.

There was nothing ever wrong with Shore. He was a strong bottom six player under Sutter as well. There was everything wrong with the expectations people placed on Shore as a bottom six Center.

Shore had an excellent season last year, and for the most part has played very well this year.

Shore has always been a safe and reliable player. Wasn't expected to be anything more than a bottom 6 player, but he did have production down in the AHL and displayed some quality playmaking while down there. But when he came up it kind of disappeared and just stayed as a reliable defensive player who could score here and there. The playmaking this season from him has always been there. You just haven't seen it all that much which is basically my only criticism of him.

I think, hope, that Shore will be one of those reliable bottom-6'ers on the team for the foreseeable future. Like Trevor Lewis. He earned the trust of Darryl Sutter and now of John Stevens. He gets 15 minutes a game this year, he kills penalties and is out there somewhat regularly in the 3-on-3 OT. That tells me the coach trusts him. If he can play reliable "plus" hockey and be good for 20 points that'll be a good season for him. He will drop down to 3C or 4C when Carter returns and hopefully continue his hard work.

It's the first time Nick has played top 6 minutes. He's fit in pretty well, but he needs to shoot more.
