The dirtiest player in the history of NHL

Bobby Clarke's a piece of **** hockey player and should not be in the HHOF. The hall is the biggest joke anyway but still.

.... Geebus, why dont you tell me what you really think about him jcbio. Amazing how 30+ years later he can still draw peoples ire.

What do you mean what I really think?

Im assuming english is not your first language?...Its a common joke, pun, that when someone has really strong usually negative feelings about someone or something and expresses it strongly you rhetorically ask them to tell you again how you really feel about whatever. ;)

The player I've respected the least is probably Matt Cooke, for all the obvious reasons, but I wouldn't guess he's the dirtiest player ever. He's more like a decent player prone to repeated violent acts, but they weren't that regular. There were just far too many of them and he should never have been allowed to play past the third or fourth (of what -- 12?) serious incident.

I'm guessing the "dirtiest player ever" is probably a defenceman who played a long time and was very subtle with his stick, elbows, etc. It's probably a Chris Chelios type... or Eddie Shore. Someone who was rough and tough, but most of the damage was done little by little, game-by-game, year after year, carefully concealed from the referee.

... is this a leading question or a trap?.... because ok.... who do you think, what player comes
top of mind with that criteria Panther?... you think maybe Gordie Howe?... just slightly or what?

Pronger should be in the conversation. But as a kid Marchment was always considered the dirtiest.

There has been loads of dirty players in the NHL.

There is the superstars like Messier, Clarke, Chelios, Howe, Eddie Shore

The stars, Billy Smith, Eric Lindros, Chris Pronger, Sprague Cleghorn, Ken Linseman, Duncan Keith

The complimentary players like Dale Hunter, Billy Coutu, Bryan Marchement, Ulf Samuelsson, Darcy Tucker, Marty McSorley, Milan Lucic, Dustin Brown, James Neal, Ron Hextall, Steve Downie, Claude Lemieux

The plugs, Matt Cooke, Francois Leroux, Andy Sutton, Tie Domi, Raffi Torres, Dave Brown, Craig Berube, Gino Odjick, Dave Schultz, Jesse Boulerice, Patrick Kaleta, Michal Grosek, Paul Higgins, Jimmy Mann, Dale Purinton

Take your pick

Great thread! I'm hating guys I haven't thought about in years:laugh:

Clarke and Linesmen were two of the worst. Not that they did stuff that others didn't do, but they hid behind and were protected from paying the price for their ****by the Flyers goon squad. God, how I hated these two bags of ****!

I saw Gordie Howe play a lot in the WHA. He was a cheap shot artist extraordinaire. The refs gave him all sorts of special privileges. But, I don't hate Gordie Howe. You can't hate Gordie Howe:laugh: But he was a dirty SOB. The sharpest elbows in hockey.

Dirtiest goalies were Billy Smith and Ron Hextall. Two of the cheapest hacks of all time.
