I'd legit be excited to see what Futa would do with this roster and a different staff. With Blake I imagine it's the old boys club. Nelson Emerson asst. GM, Glen Murray head coach, Steve Heinze Ontario's new coach, what other Kings are still around, Kyle Calder, Jarret Stoll, Mcsorely, O'Donnell, Anson Carter...

This is exactly what concerns me about Blake having any authority. All these ex-NHL players aren't necessarily the right fit.

Futa has paid his dues and deserves a chance to be GM. We don't need a GM who has been buddies with any of the coaches or people on the development staff.

I don't have any ill will towards Blake. All I care is that the next GM installs a winning attitude, a smart coach, and an entertaining product on the ice. If Blake can do that, great. If Futa would be better, bring it.

Curses exist only to be broken.

My exact sentiments as well. Blake seems to be very well respected throughout the NHL and PA ranks. Now we don't know how well that'll translate into a GM, could be another Sakic or an Yzerman (or Shanahan given they worked together at the league offices).

I used to resent Blake as well, until I learned to read through the BS that Tim Leiweke spin doctored to the media. Thankfully those days are behind us... though it has the potential to creep back up if they blow it with Doughty when he's a year removed from becoming UFA eligible.

I was mad at Blake more for his second stint than first departure.

I blame Marc Crawford more for it now after O'Sullivans comments.

Even Lombardi admitted that Blake faired better after getting out of a crap team and going to the Sharks.

If Blake and Luc can turn it around I'll be happy.

Didn't Hoven say they were speaking up about inserting youth this year?

I hate Blake and I find it disgusting that the same franchise that he insulted by ripping off his C as a negotiation ploy is still welcoming to him.

But we wouldn't be talking about any of this if a man who literally could have managed the team as long as he wanted didn't just finish possibly the worst 3 year run of management in team history.

I hope it's not going to be Blake, but it really should be something we aren't discussing.

It kills me that my childhood hero Luc Robitaille brought forced Rob Blake down the throats of long time fans. And here we sit today, with it not completely inconceivable that this slack jawed yokel who was a traitor to the uniform could be in charge of player personnel decisions.

Whatever your opinion on Lombardi's moves and the Kings win loss record, I don't see how putting some ex player in for a guy who got his law degree is some kind of no brainer.

No way Blakey boy should get handed the job. If they fire DL, which I am not in favor of (Sutter is another story), then they better interview a ton of folks and not just Blake.

The Blake hate by some of you is just childish. Any of us would have done the exact same things if in the same position.

Blake is arguably the best dman this team has ever had, and in 93 he was a HUGE part of helping this team make it to the SCF - farther than they team had ever been. That's ALL I care about - did you help the team achieve? Blake certainly did.

And when he left, so what? Did his leaving force the Kings to not win the SC? Ha! the team was terrible with or without Blake.

And why no hate for Luc for bringing the Cup to LA as a member of the hated redwings?!? Did Luc actually think Kings fans would come out to see a redwings cup??? What Luc did was easily 10x worse than anything Blake did or didn't do.

bygones I say.

Robitaille, and I am only a fan of him as a player, left under completely different circumstances. The Kings offered him a contract with a sizable pay cut, and Luc chased a cup instead.
