The chase for the playoffs (standings, scoreboard watching, and, of course, sagacious commentary)

Considering that I’m planning to watch and attend games, no thanks
Thats fine, i still plan on watching the games, but from the standpoint of the teams progression, we need high end talent in this organization. When they did the top 50 prospects this year the only one we had was Texier, and he was like 42nd.

I’m not giving up a season to select 12th instead of 16-18th. Come on now

The draft is such a crap-shoot it's not remotely worth it if you ask me. I'd rather they get knocked out in the first round than tank for a top 5 pick. We're just as likely (more likely?) to end up with another Ryan Murray, Yakupov, etc.

17 games left. Only NJ looks like a sure win on paper. So that means either the jackets add 2 points the rest of the way or go on a 14-1-2 stretch and shock the world once again. :dunno:

Not a believer or non believer...just hopeful that we hold on until we get healthier to make a push...

I hold out hope by the weekend we get wennberg and cam back....

The question then becomes when Murray and Anderson can be counted on...or if they can...

Jackets lead the league in OTL's. If they won half of those they'd be at 83 points. If they failed to take those games to OT they'd have 69 points. Fine line between having a great record and pretty much being out of the playoffs.
Very true. Certainly their style of play assures an over-abundance of games decided by one goal - whether in regulation or OT/SO. The latter (OT/SO) heavily favors skill players which doesn’t favor our roster - even at full strength. So the numbers you post indeed make sense.

FWIW, Wild Card teams in the East have had a very good record in OT/SO, and the teams who miss out on the playoffs do not. It appears after years of being one of those teams who gets in due to their OT record, its our turn to miss due to a poor OT record.

Toronto-Florida is absolute heroin. Best period of hockey I've seen in a while

Zero defense. Zero goaltending. A fight. Six goals.

I said NYR would be a contender in a few years, let me change that to next year. They’re going to be a tough out in April.

Getting into the lottery at least gives a chance of landing a top player, albeit a slim chance.

No, we fight till the end
If you’ve seen the last 10 games, they can fight to the end all they want but it won’t necessarily be good enough.

Don’t get me wrong. I like that attitude in the players but the reality is this team just isn’t good enough to get far. If there was any justice from the hockey gods, they would fight hard, barely miss the playoffs and then win the draft lottery to draft Lafreniere. Then come in next season guns blazing and healthy.
