With this roster?
Look at the players they lost before the season and at the trades they lost at TDL.
He is still overachieving.
Yup. On paper this is a much worse roster than they had 2 years ago in the "closest sweep ever" or whatever he called it

Dumdum needs to hire an actual hockey GM instead of always trying to have the smartest guy in the room

Aho would be the only player to make the Cats‘ lineup. Maybe Andersen as a backup.
They could use Slavin, but they wouldn‘t need him…

Lol come on.. are Jarvis, Svechnikov, Necas(before he was traded) just a bunch of scrubs?
they have also a had a pretty good defense the past couple of years, 14 straight ECF losses are more than a player issue

I thought they would get to the cup since we weren't there to spank them as usual but they just about blew it. If they win a game this series, i'll be shocked. Pretenders vs Contenders. Now you see why Rantanen wanted nothing to do with that organization.

Tendency to get easier matchups in the first two rounds then get into series where they're seriously overmatched?
Another reason this playoff format blows chunks. Bounce them out earlier against some Atlantic team instead of letting them waltz past phony inferior "rivals" in the Metro. The conference finals should be epic, not a joke, and the first round is too heavy.

Even the Leafs aren't this bad. They should wear their Hartford Failures jerseys, at least they'll look good losing

A remarkable thing to do. Teams that make the conference finals should theoretically be close to each other in talent. NHL absolutely needs to change the seeding system. The current one sucks and has gotten boring with the same matchups year after year. To hell with this creating rivalries crap the NHL says the current system promotes. Conference finals should be tight affairs.
