I wouldn't actually put Messier 6th, that was tongue in cheek. He won the Cup, so give him #1, no skin off my nose.

But Leetch being a bad captain is so ridiculously overblown. Leetch carried the teams he captained, playing Norris-level hockey for 30 minutes a game with defensive corps that make the 2018 Rangers look like Team Sweden.

To me, Leetch should be far and away #2.

Plus, the team was way more of a dumpster fire during Messier's second captaincy than they were during Leetch's captaincy but that never, ever gets talked about.
