News Article: The Captain wants to attempt a comeback, would you sign him back for a retirement contract?

Well, I guess for him I hope the power of the placebo works out long term for him.

But I really would bet him putting his body back into gameshape is going to create the same struggles.

I would love to see him make a comeback on a contender as a 3C and play well but I think his time has passed. I’m not as certain as everyone else though. I remember when some old guys benefitted from having that lockout year off. Maybe there’s a chance for him that time has helped him.

bring him back. He can retire after the season is over. I don't think it would hurt and we might need players after the TD. He can finish the career on his own terms with his team after finding out he's done at that level.

He wouldn't be more than a 4th line Center playing 7-10 minutes a night

Don’t think he will be back here but would love to see him as a depth piece and back in the playoffs again. Rooting for him.

If he wants to play it may as well be meaningful games somewhere not on this disaster. Kind of strange for Kane to say that.

Does anyone know where he lives right now? Like is he back home in Winnipeg? That would make me think he'd go there.

I would think he's still living in Chicago, mostly because I can't think of one single reason a person who's wealthy and (probably) retired would move from Chicago to Winnipeg.

Screw it bring em both back next year at least there would be some intrigue and fan interest.

Management made it clear they weren't bringing him back
Seems like Toews would be a pretty awesome mentor for Bedard. But we know they wont bring him back.
As to this ... why do you think KD feels this way exactly? You have one of the most dynamic duos of all time in the NHL on your team who led the team to 3 Cups and now that they are older you just want nothing to do with them with no real reason other than moving on to a new, younger group. Did Toews and Kane somehow alienate themselves from the team? Or from Davidson or ownership? Cause from my viewpoint you show appreciation and loyalty to these two especially in Kane's case who is still physically viable and who knows maybe even Toews now that he has had time to heal.

It's just the timing of when the Beach stuff resurfaced and a "clean break" from anything to do with that era. Guilt by association.

I don’t see the point of bringing him back,
If he wants got to another team, fine, but that ship has sailed I’d say in Chicago.

Ok I can see that but I don't agree with it. Toews and Kane had most likely nothing whatsoever to do with the Beach stuff. Are they worried some stiff reporters with PC underpants are going to give them a hard time? These are first ballot HOF'ers who should have been lifetime Hawks and who could really help with bringing the youth up and into the fold being negated due to a fear of negative press that doesn't have any real validity. Can anyone honestly say that Hall and company are providing a better veteran presence to help instil a winning attitude into the young players than what Kaner and perhaps ( if truly healthy ) Toews could?
