I’m not really that interested. What’s the upside? Novelty? Is there something I’m missing?
If JT was 100% of what he could have theoretically been at 36 YO (without the persistent health issue)- he'd be a great add. He could actually win a F/O and would likely be a solid #3C. The problem is that he looked cooked 2 years ago, and the level of effort that would be required to get back into NHL shape at 36 YO would be monumental.

Did they read anything else in that interview apart from that line? In that part he was even talking to other former players who say they all feel that way.

But everything else in that interview does not resemble someone capable of returning

I didn't post the entire interview because the major takeaway was what he said. He wants to come back but it does not at all mean he can even get on the ice playing NHL level hockey for a sustained period of time. Like he said, he wants to try.

if he's in a better place right now,I think we owe it to him to sign him for another year.He stepped away knowing he had problems.he wouldn't want to play if he couldn't help us.i think he would be better than Foligno

*edit* I'm not even going to bother leaving this comment here. Just baseless paranoia on my part.

I can't believe that the team is as bad as they are after going from guys like Katchouk/Raddysh/TyJo to Teuvo/Bert/Hall. On paper, the latter trio are much better hockey players.

Yet the team is still shit.
They were one of the worst teams of the cap era last year, getting a few 3rd line players isn't going to change much.

Bringing back Toews would go against what management has said for a couple years.

If they wouldn't want Kane back after he expressed interest I don't see why Toews.

Toews should sign with a good team like the Jets

Well it looks like the sentiment is more or less split so I vote to bring Tazer back.
I also wouldn't mind at all if he came back with the Jets and helped them to win the Cup.
Not only would it be a Canadian team it would be a small market team that is not Toronto, Montreal or Vancouver. It would be a great story and if he played really well maybe he signs a 2 year deal with the Hawks for next year. This all of course is my looking at this with the glass very much half full.

I would hate to see him out there a shell of his former self and in another uniform but it’s his choice, if he wants to get back out there he has every right. They won’t bring him back here, maybe he could center a third line on a contender.

Are people really that detached from reality? Lol. The guy is still not healthy, he's going to be 37, and he hasn't played hockey in basically two years. It would be a miracle if he could ever play PROFESSIONAL hockey again, let alone NHL hockey.
Of course the odds are slim, perhaps astronomical under the circumstances, but it is up to Jonny to make that determination.

Can he win over 50% of his faceoffs and play a reasonable 2 way game 10 minutes a game?
