I can't imagine Matthews and Marner want to string this out until game 7. Pretty sure they'll mail it in again tonight and just be done with it. Easier to end in Florida than it is game 7 in Toronto.
I can't see the Panthers rolling over unless they want to further embarrass these chokers in a game #7 in their barn.

The core players have posted a 2-13 record in close-out games since 2018, and even dropped 2 games during their first round matchup against Ottawa after staking themselves a 3-0 lead. They closed things out in Game 6, but it was primarily off the back of William Nylander, and they will need some more of that magic on Friday.

William Nylander, Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, and John Tavares are a combined minus-8 and have all been held without a point over the last 2 games. The Maple Leafs were also a minute away from being shut out for the second straight game before a late tally by Nicholas Robertson.

The Leafs are going to need all hands on deck for Game 6 and it starts and ends with the core members.
Marner is out of contract and will not risk injury. Similar to 2 years ago when he didn't want to get injured before his wedding. Limit his minutes and has been suggested, play the ones who are engaged in the series.

Kyper says Tanev has is all but done with all the punishment he has taken. So if he is good for 2 rounds, we need to bring a dman that can take some of the punishment from him. Thinking Ekblad might be that guy.

We'd have to dump Rielly to make it work.
I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the play of Tanev and OEL, but they’re of the vintage that will show wear snd tear as the team progresses, they wouldn’t be hear without them, but both will be soap sooner than later imo…….

Florida has been the more physical team all series.

But toughness means doing what it takes to win the battle. This team needs to show they have the mental toughness to get this done. Two chances. Things look bleak but you never know.

Ekblad oh boy. You guys hate Rielly lmao. Ekblad is like Jake Gardiner and Rielly together

What's their record when it comes to staving off elimination? Generally curious, so I guess whenever they are down 3-0, 3-1, 3-2.

Perhaps the surprises can somehow be at their best when the expectations are just about at their worst? I'll be watching tonight because the offseason typically seems to last for a tad too long.

Hello, I am an Oiler fan and long-time Leaf hater but I'm rooting for you tonight. For one, f*** that dirty Panthers team. And secondly, enough is enough with the heartbreak Leafs fans gotta deal with it. Its not funny anymore.

And I legit think you can do it. Panthers have played ALOT of hockey the last three seasons. They are going to hit a wall at some point. And that point starts TONIGHT.

Thanks, I have a good friend who is a lifelong Oilers fan. Wish you guys nothing but the best.
Remember the trade where we sent you Hyman, Brown, Klingburg and Kapanen for future considerations? The Leafs are calling in the chit, thanks for taking care of Connor for the last 10 years.

Part of me wants to skip watching tonight, but then it could be a historic night, the last we see this group together… so I will watch.

The sad part being, we will likely never see a collection of such talented players on this team again. We’ve seen some incredible hockey at times, but pure natural talent doesn’t win you cups.

It’s even feasible that this team has peaked, and will be on the downturn now…

Hate to say it, but this team needs a Kadri type minus the suspensions. At least he was willing to fight back. It is clear that this team needs 2-3-rats who can score 5-15 goals but will compete. Reaves wasn't the answer. A heavyweight can't fight the rats as part of the code anyway.

Watching the Kampf's, Jarnkrok's, Holmberg's of the world make up the bottom 6 was ... interesting.
