hey, just thought I'd point out: At the start of the series, I predicted the Panthers in 5. So I'm not too distraught or surprised by what has unfolded.

But a LOT of you guys said the Leafs in 7. So this means that a lot of you
  • Really shouldn't be as pissed as you are with this team? It's kind of falling in line with your predictions, irrespective of how unbalanced the buds have played
  • A lot of you could still be vindicated as geniuses over the next 48-72 hours.
I still think the Leafs get blown out of the water tonight. Their souls were taken in the 2nd period of game 3 and I think these guys have been in purgatory since. Tonight will be the final stake to the heart. But if they do pull it out and make it to the ECF, I think you Game 7 predictors have full remit to claim your VIP spot on the bandwagon as if you never truly left it.

The last time the Maple Leafs came back from 3-2 down to win a series was in 2002 against the Sens. Game 5 was a crushing defeat with a late gwg by Alfredsson. Then the team regrouped and won the next 2 games to win the series and move on to the ECF. Of course, that team had a lot more grit and heart than this one. And Ottawa Senators weren't the defending SC champs.
That non call on Alfredsson was right there with the one on Dougie in 93. Typical BS NHL officiating.

Just saying, things are basically over for us. IF the Leafs manage to come back and win this series.. oh boy.

It would A) Be one of the greatest chokes of all time for the Panthers to be honest and B) Show this group really is different.

I gotta be honest, I am not holding my breath. But I will cheer for them tonight. GLG, at least show some pride tonight please

I think people are a lot more frustrated with how bad they've played in the last couple games. Game 5 was unacceptable and so f***ing bad... on home ice no less. Very reminiscent of previous playoff woes in times that mattered.

Had they lost a close fought game, I think the mood wouldn't be as negative and frustrated. Like nobody was mad after Game 3.

I'm gonna take tonight off. Enjoy my Friday night

If I'm pleasantly surprised and get a game 7... Great.

yeah, I totally get it - it's both the process AND the outcome that matters. like if they were hard fought 1 goal losses, I think a small minority would even want the Leafs to run it back as is.

Games 3-5 were unforgivable losses and unwatchable. with the 6 hour time zone difference, I watched Game 3, but couldn't bother to watch more than a period Games 4 and 5

Last year, when they were down 3-1 to Boston, they won game 5 on the road to avoid elimination after everybody said they are done. These guys have it sometimes.

haha, if they somehow pull off a miracle against the Panthers and advance - under which scenarios would you run it back next year with a re-signed Marner on $13.5M X 8, Tavares, Knies, and no chance at McDavid in 2026?

A) Leafs lose in 4-5 to Carolina
B) Leafs lose in 6-7 to Carolina, with hard fought games and 1 stinker
C) Leafs make it to the SCF
D) Leafs actually win the Cup

LOL if Leafs won the cup, I wouldn't care who got paid what. Pay Marner the max, don't care at that point.

I refused to trim my playoff beard because I still have hope, but these guys better come out with a fire most people don't, and rightfully so to this point, have.

If they don't play like they want to stay together again, then its time to break it up, after all these years.

I predicted the Leafs in 7, but didn't envision it going like this, especially getting blown out in Game 5 at home.

Thought we'd be up 3-2 heading to Florida, lose a close one and then come home to win Game 7, comfortably 5-1 or 4-0.

So in short, my prediction was way off.

I was pretty happy with this season up until two games ago. If they lose tonight, hopefully they play their nuts off and leave the fans on a bit of a high note. Florida wiped out Tampa and were everybody’s favourite to win this, it’s been the effort the last two games that’s been unbearable. GLG.

f*** it. We're winning this one.

There is not much Berube can do but change up da lines and go with 1 line who is producing effort .. Knies Domi and Willy .. play them every 2nd shift early and press for a goal or two .. Berube we MUST do everything possible to score a couple early goals .. those 3 are da only 3 this series with EFFORT oozign out everywhere on ice .. then play Scott Laughton line every 3rd shift and tilt ice in our direction .. everyone else play on a performance basis in game 6 .. don't be afraid to bench Matty and Mitch if required .. they aren't gonna do anything anyways .. and they are both likely finished here this summer .. do what is in TEAMS best interest .. play da guys who want to play to win .. at some point likely in 2nd period you are gonna need to switch to a 100 ICING program to kill clock .. adopt a program where winger closest to bench comes off quickly before puck reaches centre ice and get JT on for draws .. tell him his sole focus is on winning draw and then let Tanev decide how we progress out of our end .. then JT comes off fast and rinse and repeat as required

Going with standard setup will only result in a loss .. Cats are a much faster and grittier team and if they play their game we have ZERO chance .. Matty and Mitch are not fast enough to beat Cats anywhere on da ice .. only chance for them is Cats D faceoff and then if Matty loses draw get them off ice ASAP

If they lose tonight and with Monday being a holiday in Toronto, will locker clean out day be Sunday or Tuesday?

Matthews playing like he can't wait to get back to Arizona and hang out with Bieber.

Maybe they can get matching designer tattoos in a continuation of their juvenile mindset that if they look tough, people will think they're tough.

Seriously though, I don't enjoy hating on the guy.

But he's an elite talent that just has no interest in playing hard or taking over a game (or even just contributing something, anything) when his team desperately needs him to. It's tragic that that's going to be his legacy with this franchise.

Unless ... He and buddy Mitch finally step these last 2 games and completely re-write their narrative????:laugh::laugh: Sorry, I couldn't write that with a straight face.

It's rare when you get to see the exact moment when a team quits. Second period of game 3.

Toronto was running circles around Florida, it was like watching a Harlem Globetrotters game. They were literally running the Panthers out of their own building. During the intermission something was said and the Panthers came out and literally gooned, elbowed, ran and cheap shotted themselves back into the game. You could see their tactics drained every gram of air out of the Leafs balloon. the Panthers most likely said that if you want to beat us you will bleed, and the Leafs said, sorry is this your puck? They wanted nothing to do with any sort of paying the price to win. After the game 3 loss, I said that this was a lost opportunity and it was.

If you come for the Kings head you better take it off, the Leafs came but left the King alive, now they are paying for it in an embarrassing fashion. I think the Leafs are done but who knows, they have a penchant for taking things to game 7's.
