The Bruins have set an NHL record for most wins in a single season with 63

They've been in cruise control for a long time. If they enter the playoffs, and face a team that has been in playoff mode for a long time, they might get behind the 8 ball early. They just need to make sure they get out of cruise control at the start..... But even if that happens, it still feels like they would get the engine going just in time and move forward.

I'm sorry, but if they've been in cruise control and are still dominating teams, I'd hate to see what playoff mode looks like.

They agreed on what they would be paid because they wanted to play for this team.
That is all that matters.

Also, neither Bergy or DK played today, and they won anyway.
and giving them credit for doing that and thus being the largest part of success is....bad?
bergeron is getting paid $5 million and krejci is getting $3 million. Doesn't seem too far off for guys in their late 30s.

Cap hit, adding in their bonuses which don't count towards the cap is being a bit dishonest.

Bergeron i still one of the better centermen in the NHL when you combine his strong defense with his respectable offensive ability. He could easily be getting 8 mil on the open market, possibly more once you factor in his insane intangibles and leadership.

Krejci also may be an older guy but he is definitely able to produce like a middle 6 center and would probably command about 6 mil on a short term deal if he chose to test the markets. especially given that Krejci has a reputation for stepping up his game in the playoffs.

This is the stat that jumps out at me. Bruins have more road wins than any other team has home wins.

Very impressive. And surprising. On paper, this does not look like one of the all-time greatest teams — at least not to me. I think it’s a testament to their mentality and how they play as a team.

........So you think that the team would have gotten this record if both Bergeron and Krejci were actually paid for what they are worth?
Wouldn't it be amazing if your team could build a culture like what the Bruins have done the past decade plus? Then maybe you'd have two (2) top 2 centers willing to take much less to go for a Cup run. Don't think you'd complain then.

monster season by a monster team. Sweeney sold out the next two years for this one so they better pray they go the distance because if Krejci and Berg retire next year with new contracts kicking in and such there is no shot they have anything near the roster they have now.

LMAO I'm not complaining I'm saying that most of the credit should go to those two guys. Apparently you think differently? Though that seems odd to as it was those two players and some now retired players that made that culture.

Maybe you should question why you are so sensitive about the actions Bergeron and Krejci took that caused you to think I was complaining?

It's still wild to me that they did this; totally expected the vets to take a step back.

Credit to the organization, staff and everyone involved in keeping this veteran team focused, hungry - even in the dog days of an 82 game season.

Scary good hockey club ... interested to watch in playoffs, and if anyone can solve the puzzle.
That's the fun part -- they did. All of Marchand, Bergeron, and Krejci produced below their career levels this year. Marchand was well below his career average in fact.

What happened? Simple enough, the secondary scoring on the team has been brilliant. That, combined with Pasta taking a huge step onto the international stage to become the face of the Bruins franchise, meant that the Bruins have never lacked for scoring. Guys like DeBrusk, Zacha, and Frederic have had career years that suggest that the future of the team is in decent hands once the old guard is gone.

But I really, really think the defense has been a huge part of this. Charlie McAvoy is the forgotten man this year. Which when you're a defenseman is usually exactly what you want to be, most people notice the defenseman when he ducks it up. Guys like Lindholm, and now Orlov, give the defense a strong offensive potential. 3 members of the D are +40 (Lindholm, Grzelyk, Carlo) and McAvoy who faces a lot of opposing teams top lines is +27.

Boston has a great core of forwards, but that's kinda camouflaging the performance of the D. The defense of the Boston Bruins is ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS.

what "actions" are those?

BTW I'm convinced that Charle McAvoy is the second best player on this team besides Pastrnak. Bergeron and Marchand haven't stepped back so much as other players stepped forward, which definitely includes McAvoy. He's a legit top pairing D with few flaws at this point.

Crazy season, extremely consistent, and they never really slumped like you might expect.

Broken down into 1/4 season pieces:

Games 1-20: 17-3-0

Games 21-40: 15-1-4

Games 41-60: 15-4-1

Games 61-80: 16-4-0

They had three separate 7 game winning streaks, two 6 game winning streaks (currently on one of them), and a 10 game winning streak.

Longest regulation losing streak was 2 in a row. Longest losing streak with OT included was 3 (0-2-1).

32 wins in the first half. 31 wins in the second half with two games remaining.

Unbelievable season.

Here's another one. There is a 63 goal difference between The Bruins AT +124, and 2ND place edmonton oilers in goal differential. That is a bigger difference than there is between second place Edmonton AT +61 and 18TH place Pittsburgh Penguins AT + 7.

Are there really people that would argue against that? I mean Perhaps people could say Ullmark but..eh?:dunno:
