Almost all of our most important players this year are 25 or under.

Shortened season or not, we had the best 5 on 5 scoring team Montreal has had in like a decade.

PK Subban

At least we aren't built around Ovechkin:

Scott Gomez is still going to be off the books.

Galchenyuk, Gallagher, Eller, Pacioretty, Price, Subban, and Tinordi. Young guys on our roster that should be the core for the next few years. We have a bright future.

Ovechkin is gona win Conn Smythe, and age doesn't really matter when it comes to skills. id rather have a 47 year old that would win us a cup instead of an 18 yr old with OHL experience

on the bright side : we have a bright future. i'll keep repeating it, we're out of the disgusting Gainey/Gauthier era, i'm not even slightly mad about losing this series just because of that

I'd include Beaulieu in that list of core players. He's still green but has shown enough to be considered central to this team within a season or two.

Centers:
Eller
Galchenyuk
(White)

Wingers:
Pacioretty
Gallagher
Bourque
Prust

Defence:
Subban
Emelin
Tinordi
Beaulieu

Goal:
Price

Anything not on that list and all our draft picks should be sacrificed for another blue-chipper like Galchenyuk. I'm imagining we could maybe, just maybe get Barkov. With the following in 2014-2015:

Pacioretty-Galchenyuk-
Bourque-Eller-Gallagher
Prust-Barkov-
-White-

Tinordi-Subban
Beaulieu-
Emelin-

Price

We went from one of the worst, to one f the best in the regular season.
We now really know what we're lacking (more defensive players ala Gill and a better defensive system). We have a couple young talents that are showing a lot of promise.

I understand that us ending 2nd in the East, 4 overall in the league and 1st in our division made some expectations. But we greatly improved from last season. We really just need a better defensive system and some robustness.

Galchenyuk is a bright side. He was still working his ass off and his passing is ridiculous. Have honestly never seen a better playmaker in my time watching the Habs. Kovalev was good, but I think Chuck has more hockey sense, and certainly more effort.

Playoffs were sad but this was a positive year. Definitely lots to be happy about. I really think we've finally turned the corner and will be a contender sooner rather than later.
