Don’t wanna speculate obviously but Vanacek made a save in the 3rd last night where it looked like he overextended and stayed down for an extra second or two. when I saw it live I would have bet my life he hurt himself on it. Obviously he finished the game and looked fine but if something happened I’ll bet that was it.

Or it's possible he woke up sick? I don't think he got hurt.

Once again, the fact that Vitek got the start last night was a little bit surprising to begin with, so maybe the other guy is nursing something/not feeling well and was okay to back up, especially with no time to get another goalie in town, but I've given up on trying to figure out when a goalie is or isn't gonna play.

I never expected Blackwood to play Sunday.

Towards the end of the game Vanecek made a save but I thought he acted like he hurt something, one of the the Devils players looked like he asked if he was alright.

My complete wishful thinking idea, which is likely not at all realistic and is right up there with getting excited over what buildings are scouts are currently watching games, like we're actually gonna get someone on either of the teams playing.

We gave #29 a random start on Sunday to ''Showcase'' him for a trade and hoped someone would bite if he had a decent game.

Now someone came calling.

Vitek wasn't interviewed last night in the locker room. And if he was, it wasn't part of the post game interviews on the Devils youtube channel?

I'm pretty sure #29 was on there after the Carolina game.

Was he potentially getting looked at or treatment for something?

Annnddddddd him not being interviewed doesn't mean shit, as he wasn't one of the players interviewed in the video after the Pittsburgh win.

Actually, they don't really interview him all that much for some reasons, but they can't wait to get Blackwood in there after his games.

If he could realistically end up somewhere else, there's absolutely other places.

The Connor Ingram experiment has been in a failure in Arizona and his regular season games in Nashville weren't any good either. If they believe Blackwood has more potential than Ingram, they could be interested. Which is why I say they'd take him if he was waived.

Copley has been fine for LA so far, so that's one of the last places I could see him end up, unless Copley came back here in a trade for him (although Schmid is closer to New Jersey than Copley is right now and wouldn't make it cross country by tonight's game, so it could just be for this game) or unless Quick is injured. They're not gonna dump Quick in the minors like they did Petersen. I assume they'll let him play out the remainder of the year as the backup and move on after the season and he'll retire, unless he wants to keep embarrassing himself out there every night.

I'm optimistic that it's something to do with Blackwood and not Vitek. Unless it's just that Vitek is sick and they need a backup for tonight that isn't an EBUG.

If only because I was expecting Blackwood to get the start last night and was a little surprised when he didn't.

Maybe he was supposed to get the start, but either fell ill or aggravated something, to the point where he was okay to backup, as there was no time to get anyone to Detroit anyway.

Blackwood since the Team Canada consideration has been at least as bad as an old and washed up Quick that's about to turn 37 years old.

Blackwood was going to play tonight. I feel like they would only call up Schmid if he had to play... like if it was VV that needs a night off wouldn't they just call up Daws to sit on the bench? So hoping it has something to do with Blackwood and not VV.
