Probert was more than punching guys in the face. Just like McCarty was. In Detroit at least, Probert was a legit top 6 forward who happened to be great at punching face.

Agreed. Probert broke the Red Wings record for most points in the playoffs in 1988 when he had 21 points in 16 games (It was later broken by Fedorov, tied by Yzerman and then broken again by Zetterberg). He played in the All-star game that year as well.

74 games 29 goals 33 assists for 62 points. 398 penalty minutes.

It was one helluva season.

Alfredsson joined the wings about 5 seasons too late. I never understood why he didnt chase a cup like Iginla did at the end of his career.

He never intended to leave Ottawa at all, but they lowballed him so hard he went looking for a deal that wasn't a slap in the face.
