This thread is hilarious. I know who some want to make the next heel now.

There is no substance to your post. Do you feel Aucoin should get a shot to make the team this year or not its pretty simple. I think he should get a shot and expressed that notion, some people feel he should, he even has playoff experience, go figure.

I also said there is a lot of useless guys on the Leafs right now, especially for Carlyle and his system.

Mansfield: I strongly disagree with your assessment and comparative Aucoin vs Bozak. I am basing this on skills demonstrated while playing hockey and not based on different league performances.

I'm addressing the Bozak bashing. It went from "hes not a #1 center" to "maybe he's a fourth line center". Bozak is an NHL player playing in the wrong role and doing ok with it. I'm laughing because I'm witnessing the birth of a new supervision in Leafs fans cannon. Worse than Matt Stajan? Give me a break.

As for Aucion, we've seen it a hundred times. Some guys can't translate their games from AHL star to NHL player. See Jeremy Williams, Joey Crabb, Simon Gamache, Tim Stapleton, etc. Heck, Andre Deveaux is a pretty good AHL player.

Holy. Stop hating on Bozak.

Aucoin is NO WHERE near him.

This. I hate when people downplay Bozak like anyone could play our 1st line C and succeed here with Kessel. They cant. A host of guys have tried and none have been close at all in comparison to Bozak. Thats not to say Bozak is a legit 1C, its just that he deserves some credit where its due.

As for Aucoin; Caps fans will tell you he is not an NHL player.

History says let someone else try.

Most of the players who tear up the AHL or European leagues in their later 20s and into their 30s tend to fail when they're given a look at the NHL level. The list is long and scary:

Jiri Dopita
Espen Knusten
Fabian Brunnstrom
Tomi Kallio
Simon Gamache
Clarke Wilm
Nathan Dempsey

And there's probably more.

If we run into injury problems and he's an option, sure, but I'd rather go with someone else ahead of him otherwise.

To be fair to Dempsey he was a solid 3rd pairing guy.

For me it's pretty simple. Disregarding AHL play, aucoin has proven that he can play decently on the fourth line in a pinch. Bozak has proven to be an excellent third line center and a decent first-line stopgap. It's not even a comparison.

Aucoin was signed to be a solid vet leader on the Marlies.

He is an AHL superstar, but not good enough to be an NHL regular.

I think he will be a spot call up for injuries and stuff but realistically he shouldn't be competing for a full-time job on this team.

I am going on the record here stating that I feel this AHL superstar has the ability to play in the NHL, and I feel he should be brought to camp. What are your thoughts?

I look at has skill set and production/play and just feel he is a better PLAYER than Bozak for instance. Just to add, I hope the leafs dump a lot of players and put an end to this third line quality log jam they have found themselves in...Picks are good.

ill take bozak everyday and twice on saturdays over aucion!!!!!

Honestly everything is wrong with this post.

Knusten and Brunnstrom were decent in the NHL. In fact, they were better early on in their careers as opposed to this being good in their"late 20's in euro leagues" crap you came up with. Brunnstrom at 23 had a solid rookie year with Dallas but was never able to keep it going after. Espen had a great career early on in Europe, not later like you insisted on

Tomi Kalio was always a consistent contributor in Europe before and after his stint in the NHL. Some players fit in other areas but you're very misinformed when it comes to this list you provided
