Does it really matter? My guess is they would have just made another banner for a new arena when they got one.

well that just about sums up the coyotes tenure in AZ. sad that the fans had to put up with that shitshow for as long as they did

Never cared for Doan, but how does any NHL team not make sure stuff like this is secured someplace?

It sounds like it was packed away in a box with some other stuff, and then the boxes were thrown out.

Not a great look, but somewhat understandable when you think about the logistics of clearing out an entire arena’s worth of stuff.

I don't think that is a good excuse at all honestly. Should be put in a clearly marked box of DO NOT THROW OUT!

Where does Meruelo rank in terms of all time worst owners in pro sports?
Not that far up.
The old owner of the Cincinnati Reds is 2 (she was crazy.)
Then we have good old Harold Ballard in 1
And third is some other dude who ran a football team. But Muerelo is top 10 for sure.

Dan Synder wasn't just a racist jackass while owner of the R-words. He also flew the team cheerleaders to a foreign country for special events with high money backers of the team and pushed them into having sex with the big money friends.

Yes, literal sex trafficking.

The bar for shitty sports owners in history is rather high.

There we go Dan Synder got third place.

So first Harold Ballard [also kiddi sex ring in the garden in the 80s (not ran by him by the way, but knowing him, he might have sold tickets to it to make a buck)and overall asshole to everybody]
Second place Marge Schott (Loved her team, but racist af and hard nazi memorabilia and she was way too into her dogs).
And then there is Dan.

A lot of the stuff going on between the Coyotes and Bettman/the league felt like a stereotypical enabling relationship that you hear about on shows like My 600 Pound Life. It's the best thing to happen for all parties that the Utah Jazz owner wants to expand his sports empire. Hopefully Coyotes fans finally get a real team and a real owner in expansion.
They need a real arena first. That’s been the big problem.

Not really. And the Coyotes were contacted about the banner but no one came to pick it up.

Yes it definitely matters. As mentioned, terrible optics as it relates to respecting a team's history and it just looks like they don't give a f***.
