they talked about this on effectively wild today in a roundabout way and came to the same conclusion as i have.

for what the angels started from, they're in a pretty good place. sure you'd like the pitching to be there but for what eppler started with, they could be a lot worse.

Shitposting aside, even though the Angels are well out of the race this is still the best Angels team in a little while. We actually have a decent young rotation and stars at multiple positions. All we need is a f***ing bullpen and Trout to not get hurt jogging the bases and Rendon to figure out whatever the f*** is going on with him.

If the Angels are a disaster. What are the Os?

Orioles are simply irrelevant, no one cares about them and the fact that they suck.

The Angels were a respectable franchise and have a couple of generational type players and still can't even make the postseason. They truly are a disaster and a waste

Made this thread almost 3 years ago and we’ve achieved a grand total of 0 winning records in that season and the 2 succeeding it and will be having our worst record in quite some time this season.

Thanks Arte. More concerned on "spending" rather than building a winning club. Sad.

I'm looking forward to the part where the Angels refuse to trade an Ohtani that already stated he will look elsewhere if the Angels can't compete for an absolute haul. Probably based on something like merchandise/ticker revenue or some vague notion they can challenge for a wild card spot despite there being like 5 teams that have a better shot than they do.

Question: In general, what's the track record with pro teams that have micromanaging owners?
Answer, in form of another question: In general, what's the track record with movie-licensed video games?

There’s absolutely no pitching, besides Ohtani. Trout seems to be always injured ; or battling an injury. Angels need to target pitching and build through the draft. They are saddled with 2 huge contracts in Trout and Rendon. Both of whom are always hurt. Ohtani is going to be another massive contract.

If I was the angels I would seriously go scorched earth & rebuild, like the Orioles, who are now turning the page & starting to look legit.

No one is touching Rendon though.

Pitching wasn’t even the problem this year

The Angels went 17-44 after starting out 27-17. How does that happen

Other than Ohtani the Angels rotation was a bunch of nobodies

It has always been an issue. The angels haven't had a good staff since Lackey and the Rally Monkey LOL

It was the offense this year really. Ohtani is an ace, Sandoval has been very good, Thor and Lorenzen were fine for the middle of the rotation, Detmers has ups and downs but has potential, and the revolving door at the 6th spot is not ideal but whatever.

Problem is we have absolutely no offense outside of Trout, Rendon, and Ohtani and the first two can’t be relied on to be on the field
