Wouldn't it be cheaper to order Center Ice yourself rather than to spend all that money at the bar watching games?
By that logic, why ever go to a hockey bar when the games are on local TV in Brooklyn?

I subscribe to hockeystreams, but it'd still be nice to have the option of watching a game when I feel like going out for a drink.

Eh, none of those beers particularly excite me :dunno: Decent selection of Goose Island though, I guess.

I'm yet to see a real craft beer bar that is all about hockey in NYC, I guess Stout comes closest but the food is overpriced because of the location. Anybody know of any hockey bars in Queens/Astoria? I moved here about 6 months ago but haven't been able to find anything notable.

We should all catch a game there sometime. HF night out and Bar/restaurant review.

I never made it to one of the old HF get togethers with TB and Fletch and co. but I was always curious what they were like.

No matter what, I'm going to swing through there next Sunday during the BR St. Pat's parade (its on 3rd ave this year).

Went to an awesome place last weekend called Toby's Public House in Brooklyn. Went around 1 PM and walked in and they had the Boston v. Philly game on one TV and the Islanders v. Washington game on the other. Pizza and beer selection is tremendous and the bartender, Bam, who is apparently there every Saturday is a Rangers fan with the Rangers logo tattooed on his arm - really nice guy too. I'd recommend it just for the food and the setting. It was quiet when I went with my friends because it was still a little bit cold out but I imagine the place probably gets packed in the summer. Really nice spot.

First time visit to MSG on my birthday (NYR-NJ)

I have always wanted to visit the MSG for Rangers game and now I get to do this. Best of all, they are playing Devils on my birthday and I have tickets confirmed.

I would appreciate some practical tips for the six-day stay in New York for European hockey fan.

On my list aside visiting the MSG is also the NHL shop (especially I would be interested bringing NYR Lady Liberty- jersey back home).

Unfortunately at this moment I do not have much else on my list.

If you would be so kind to share some your favorite hangarounds I would like to add them to my list.

Thank you in advance for your time.

I've been looking at getting a new place, I found one in Brooklyn that I love, but I'm uneasy about leaving Manhattan and being farther away from MSG. Any Brooklyn residents who can tell me about living in DUMBO?

Eh, the tap list is pretty thin. Nothing from Stone, Harpoon, Rogue or Dogfish Head. Not even Magic Hat.

The bottle list is not even worth mentioning.

I just had a $24 bottle of Ballast Point Sculpin IPA there the other day which annually gets rated as one of the top ipas in the world...so...not sure where the abismal bottle comment came from, they are less than a month old though so maybe the bottles are new idk

Hello, Rangers fans/haters and fellow NYC hockey lovers!

I figured it would be a good idea to ask some NYC hockey questions here. This is a cross-post from my thread in another sub-forum (http://hfboards.mandatory.com/showthread.php?t=1399443), but I will quote the relevant section below:

As for where to buy the gear, any opinions on West Side Skate Shop/Paragon Sports/City Ice Pavillion's Pro Shop?

Lastly, for where to play, I was just going to do drop-in on Friday's at City Ice since it looks to be easily accessible by subway. I live in the city, and have no car. Is this the best option for me?

Cheers, guys!

P.S. Worth it to explore playing some inline hockey in the city?

I will be in NY tomorrow and wanted to know if the Ranger team stores are open to purchase merchandise? Also, is there a store open in MSG where I can get Crown Collection gear?

As far as I know, the team stores are only open during the games. It is not on the first floor like in other arenas.

Try Cosby's, just 1/2 block away. 31st between 6th and 7th. Last I remember, the crown collection gear is only available at the arena, but I could be wrong on that.

Van Diemens on 2nd ave in the 20's is a good place to watch hockey games.

My favorite restaurant in the city is Plataforma Churascaria (sp?) on 49th between 8th and 9th. Brazilian steakhouse, unbelievable.

If you are into nudie bars, forget it. The places in NYC are terrible and expensive.

As for touristy things, I think the Statue of Liberty is still closed, but you can take the Staten Island Ferry to Staten Island, get off the boat and right back on to Manhattan. Closest you can get to the Statue of Liberty without going to Liberty Island. SI Ferry is free.

Empire State Building is a few blocks from MSG. Haven't been there in about 30 years.

There are tons of Museums, bars, just depends on what you are into.

The NHL store, imo is a rip-off and they have better stuff at Cosby's. Jut 1/2 block from MSG on 31st between 6th and 7th ave.
