Didn't realize there was a video game thread on this forum. Here's the setup I'm rocking lately. It's a mix of old and new:

Still no PS5 or Series S/X. Hopefully someday. Been mostly playing Metroid Fusion on my GBA SP in anticipation of Metroid Dread coming out in October (can't wait). Also playing a bit of Rocket League on occasion and some other stuff here and there.

Anyone else want to share some setup pictures?

Another Metroid fan? Count me in. Have you played all the older ones?

I've completed Super, Fusion, Zero Mission, Samus Returns and Prime.

I have played a lot of the NES original but never got around to completing it yet - but I like what I've played of it. I am into those rougher sorts of NES games. I haven't played the original Metroid II, Prime 2 or 3, Other M, or Federation Force yet.

But yea, just based on the ones I've played - I'm a huge fan. Super Metroid is still up there as one of the absolute greatest games I've ever played, if not the greatest. I'm still not sure how they managed to make something so amazing back then. The way it funnels you into discovering its secrets with an invisible guiding hand is nothing short of witchcraft.

Modern games sort of cheat by giving you a radar, or some other helping tool to discover hidden items. Super Metroid mostly does it with so much more subtlety. So yea, big fan of the series in general, with an extra amount of admiration for that one in particular.

Agreed on all counts. Super Metroid may be the greatest video game of all time. The original Metroid II, however while suffering from the small grainy screen on GB, is my favorite. It’s terrifying. The evolving Metroids and finding their shed skin knowing one is near but not where, only to blindly stumble into it was amazing. The fight with the queen Metroid took forever to figure out back when it first came out. Just incredible.

LOL is that sonic 3 attached to sonic and knuckles?

Guys

Returnal is so f***ing good

going to play now even though I’ve gotten all the endings because it’s fun to try and improve on each run, and the gameplay is super tight

NHL 22 PS5 tech beta invites went out if you signed up. Looks and feels as expected, haven't dug deep into the "new features" though.

I’m giving it a try now. Is NHL 21.1

Feels a little smoother, looks a bit better. That’s it.

Anybody going to Comic Con this year? They usually have a nice video game presentation.

been on the fence about jumping on this . Heard nothing but amazing things
It looks and feels great. The voice acting so far is really good.

I'm only in the second "realm" so far, but I would recommend it, easily. Everything about it just looks and feels good.

The only criticism I have for it is how limited the combat feels early on, but it opens up with progression. Would feel a lot better with 4 skill slots instead of 3 (each slot ends up getting double/triple that amount, but that's spoilers)

Okay, if this really happens I quit my job, buy a joystick and i'm going pro. Used to cut class and play this for hours with my friends at the local deli when I was in HS. By far the best fighting game ever made.

Licensing is gonna be insane, SOOOO many marvel characters.

I wish someone would make an X-Men game. I know they just announced a wolverine game, but I mean something with all the X-men, 90s style, that you can play a campaign co-op online or local. That would be awesome.

Also as far as genres go we need a good open world pirate game. Assassin’s Creed Black Flag came close, but too much of the modern day crap.

In recent years we’ve gotten westerns (Red Dead 1-2) and Samurai (Ghost of Tsushima). We need a pirate game now.

Maybe not quite what you're looking for, but Sea of Thieves is a great open world pirate game.
