Kobasew-Sutter-D'Agostini

If Megna can keep up his level of play, with DB giving him some rope, I think Kobasew and D'Agostini will find themselves in the press box when we're healthy. They're not breaking up Glass/Vitale/Adams. And Juice and Beau are locks.

i agree completely. i wanted to get a rise out of someone. is it possible to claim that having two former 20 goal scorers in the press box is noteworthy without being accused of overrating the penguins depth?

I think we have excellent depth. I just firmly believe we aren't winning a Cup without an upgrade in size on the wing. Playoffs are all about attacking the net. I think acquiring someone who can do that routinely would have a huge effect on the team.

I think proper lines and player usage trumps getting said winger. It's all great until that player is on a line that doesn't work and isn't attacking the net. I'd rather have the current roster used properly than said winger misused.

i'm staring to think that the lack of a net-front presence has ideological underpinnings as opposed to being based in economic reality. i'm being facetious, but the track record in terms of players brought in and players rumored is a bit underwhelming. when's the last time a Hörnqvist or a Bickell was linked to the penguins.

edit: i forgot Morrow existed. ha. during the regular season stretch run he showed himself to be adequate in that regard.

I'd rather complain about said player's usage than the lack of a net front guy come playoffs. I'm confident if we find the right guy, he'll make a positive contribution no matter where he's played.

Up to Shero to recognize that's a glaring need. It'd be nice if he communicated a bit better with DB on any future moves as well.

Halak and Rask were broken by attacking the net. No amount of talent can make up for that simple reality in the playoffs.

I really hope Shero devotes his cap space and assets to fill that need.

I think Kunitz has shown lately that he's still effective in that role (when he's called upon). although he'll be getting limited minutes, Tanner Glass strikes me as another guy who's built to crash the net, stand there and screen the goalie, etc. The second line seems like a bit of a question mark in that regard, but I think Beau Bennett could feasibly cause some havoc down low and open up space for Neal and Geno if need be. If we're gonna trade for a real "physical winger" who's specialty would be net-front presence, I'd be looking for someone REALLY good at it and not just a decent plug...not sure what the market is for those guys.

Yes you do. You're just being political. WHICH SHOCKS ME, because you ain't scared.

Here are the top-7 in the East (top-8 minus Pittsburgh). Tell me which teams have him in their top-6:

Tampa Bay
Toronto
Detroit
Boston
Montreal
NYIslanders
Washington

Ya right, me PC? Pshhhhh.

I honestly am not sure how many teams would have Dupes on their top two lines. I just feel confident in saying more teams overall would have him as a third liner, because that is what his skill set should dictate.

I was just figuratively ****ing with you...

By the way, how is this not called the Megna Megathread?

what about just "The Megnathread"
