Thoughts on her song collaboration with Babymetal?

I find Babymetal to be overrated. Like it’s cute for one song, but after that I find it them to be just a pop artist. Auto tuned to hell, even if musically there’s some interesting things

AKA if Babymetal was an instrumental band, sign me up. But that’s just my opinion

One of my absolute favorite songs.

Have you heard the demos for that album? Raw as f***, just tremendous IMO -

Easily a desert island song for me as well.

And I have not heard the demos, but now I have a new weekend playlist.

I played that whole thing on drive down to Orlando with my daughter and it was part of why she asked me to make some playlists of things I like for her. It's weird, there are some entire albums (like This Is The Sea) that I would point to rather than just a song or two.

Also... how does this say "19 hours ago" for this video?

Ah, because they have a re-release of the Brown Album in a month. Ah. Okay...

I've been wondering how this is going to work. I imagine I would play a Pearl Jam bootleg and my daughter would be like "Is he growling...?" and then I would just stop trying forever. I guess a long drive and a perfectly curated playlist is the golden opportunity.

I have things I play when I drive - some of them my kids have liked, some not. Over time, I've put things that are more near and dear to me on when driving, sometimes with the "this was one of my favorite songs at the time" or even "of all time" which may alter how they respond. We've had the conversation that I do have a concern about her or her brother shredding something on the small list of songs that I still hold close to my heart. I also asked that if something occurs that way to them to let me know so I'm not coming up with Dad Joke level lyrical reinterpretation which was one of the things I had to put up with as a kid.

Also fun, the younger spawn will send me things she's found. We keep trading off world music stuff, though with her school year she's slowed down a bit on just hanging out, listening to tunes. I am looking forward to her being back in a couple weeks so we can do some of that and go out for some live music too.

Addendum - I was just thinking of a group she and I send back and forth and just found a video they put out an HOUR ago. I love when things like this happen.

This, I love. I tell a lot of stories during music, things like seeing the band live, or a memory associated with the song, or buying the album. It's led to some mild awkwardness like when I get a little too deep in my memories and recall a high school crush, but my eldest rolls with it. In fact, they even asked if I had a yearbook, which I did, and they said, "wow, she's really cute."

Driving back from the Jax game with my older spawn and his bestie last night, we got onto the topic of my ex's partially due to a music conversation. Also told him about the last time I truly experienced the red mist descending and the outcome of letting my emotions get the better of me rather than keeping my head while those around me are losing theirs. None of it was linear, but we were talking about how musicians do call and response songs and if my memory isn't hazy, this song:

...is about Kemp's relationship with Clare who also put out this song a month before:

He'd heard the first - used in movies, TV, and at one of his HS dances from what he told me. He didn't know about the Altered Images thing. (Also note in the TotP performance, I think Madonna was stealing fashion ideas...)

Thanks. I am really looking forward to this.
