OT: The all encompassing HFSabres music thread with no rules (as long as it’s music posted)

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

    Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Last album overall I enjoyed from them that they put out was Rattle and Hum, and the last studio album I enjoyed was Joshua Tree.

Couldn’t find anything I liked from their 90’s albums, and their 2000’s+ albums felt too commercial for me.

I'm of a similar mind. I like some of their first three albums and started to lose interest by "The Unforgettable Fire" when they started to get some level of popularity. I haven't really liked much of anything I've heard from them since. *shrug* Not my cuppa, but if others enjoy it, have at it.

This would be my dream project haha. But one easy starting point would be 1001 songs/albums books. I think playlists of those are available on spotify. What I wouldn't use is Billboards Year End Hot 100 lists - lots of garbage in there that doesn't stand the test of time.

She and I have discussed that publisher and how their editorial folks always defers to older things regardless of the content. They'll put something on their list and then take it off a few years later to put something new on rather than have the balls to drop some of the cheese from the '68-'72 era.

The ask was also for personal ones - stuff I like or thought was influential to music I enjoy. Even the Trouser Press who I often enjoy for their takes doesn't always agree with my taste and I know a bunch of music reviews of things that I still enjoy to this day conjure up images of kicking the writer right in the plums whenever I read them that approach best of lists with caution.

After whatever maintenance they did here on the site, my account was mangled. Tried logging in, said my password was wrong. I use a password manager, so I know that wasn't the case. Ok, let's reset my password then. User doesn't exist. WTF? I've been here for about 20 yrs now.

Ok fine, something happened to the database, I'm deleted. Create a new account. Sorry, due to problems, can't do that.

Ok fine. Contact us. Type out a detailed description of what was happening. Submit - Sorry, looks like you're spamming. Type out a much less verbose description of what was happening. Submit - Sorry, still looks like you're spamming. GRRR

I finally just had to send my email address and username and say please contact me about my problem. Then, suddenly, I get a link for my password reset. :huh::mad::facepalm:

Not my favorite band by any stretch but I will say that the Live at Red Rocks album is one of my favorite live albums and maybe the first one I ever owned as a kid (on cassette!). I think the main reason I decided to buy it was because I'd recently seen Red Rocks on trip to visit cousins in Denver.



No regrets. There are some songs I appreciate from their other work but IMO there are still some bangers on there better than most of their later stuff.
