Last night, Lane Hutson extended his point streak to 5 games (7 pts) since coming back from the 4N break. In the span of the last few games, he's gone from top 50 best in terms of points for a rookie defenseman season, to #22 presently.

He now has 4g and 44a for 48 points in 61 games. He's pacing to finish with 5g 59a 64pts, which would tie Chris Chelios, but with 6 more games played than Cheli.

With 21 games to go, he needs 9 points to be #10 all-time rookie dman in points. 8 to tie. He needs 17 points to tie Raymond Bourque at #5, which would also make him #1 in Habs history, passing Chris Chelios.

#1 Larry Murphy 76pts/80gp
#2 Brian Leetch 71pts/68gp
#3 Gary Suter 68pts/80gp
#4 Phil Housley 66pts/77gp
#5 Ray Bourque 65pts/80gp
#6 Chris Chelios 64pts/74gp
#7 Barry Beck 60pts/75gp
#8 Reed Larson 60pts/75gp
#9 Nicklas Lidstrom 60pts/80gp
#10 Reijo Ruotsalainen 56pts/78gp

Moving to the possible records, he notched his 43rd and 44th assists last night, now making him only 6 assists away from becoming only the 5th rookie defenseman to get 50 assists. He's 16 assists away from tying the record, but also 12 away from being in sole possession of the #2 position. Hutson is already #10 on the list. He needs one more to tie/pass (less gp) Quinn Hughes at #9.

#1 Larry Murphy 60a/80gp
#2 Chris Chelios 55a/74gp
#3 Stefan Persson 50a/66gp
#4 Gary Suter 50a/80gp
#5 Nicklas Lidstrom 49a/80gp

Another record, although a tad more difficult, are even-strenght points. Saturday night, Hutson notched his 26th and 27th ESP, making him presently 41st on the list of rookie dmen, but he's just 13 ESP away from tying the record and only 8 away from tying #5. There's a whole bunch of players in the 28-35 ESP range. He's one away from tying/passing (less gp) Quinn Hughes.

#1 Larry Murphy 40esp/80gp
#2 Dave Tallon 39esp/78gp
#3 Brian Leetch 36esp/68gp
#4 Ray Bourque 36esp/80gp
#5 Three players tied at 35 esp (75&78gp)

Lane Hutson has 37 points in his last 40 games, including 33 assists. He started the season with only 11 assists in his first 21 games. With the pacing of his last 40 games, he could finish as high as 6g 61a 67pts.

Three disclaimers:
1- We all know Makar and Hughes would've made those lists without their shortened seasons. We're talking of Makar & Hughes here, guys many see as generational, so nuff said.
2- This is not a thread to come and show your ineptitude at digging stats, by talking of his +/-. Most of his minus is from empty net goals, look it up before making yourself look like a fool. So you know, he's +4 at 5v5 in his last 40 games (37gf/33ga), despite bad partners and despite now being foisted on his off side because of Guhle's absence.
3- Yes, he could get injured or have zero points from here on out.

It basically a done deal now, he should easily win Norris, Hart and Lindsay….and it’s not even close!

I wouldn’t mind if he loses out on the trophy because it’s hilarious when canadiens fans are miserable. I wouldn’t even have him on my ballot.

1.Broke 99% of Gretzky's records by game 5
2.Currently taking over the NBA and got called the GOAT by Anthony Edwards
3.North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jon Ung has said although he is a God, there is only one TRUE God and that is "Lane Hutson" who he hopes will take over as Supreme Leader after he breaks every record in every sport

So you don't know hockey, got it...and trolling.
He only gets points because of his teammates and he’s actually on the ice for far more goals against than the statistics show. I just think there are better choices for the award . I don’t think we should reward players like him

Is he still on the all time minus team?

Nah Macklin and his vaunted two way game and gracious -24 overtook Lane.

Excellent title lol

The dude's on a mission ever since the end of the break
He's absolutly spectacular

It was a collective effort. I had a similar title, but in overwhelming numbers, I was told to add the All-Burgeoning, which was the cherry missing on top.

He's a beast and I predicted he'd get 45-60 pts his rookie year on this site last offseason. rollin in laughin at ya emojis, who's laughing now b***ches

eye test reveals all, bow down to my superior hockey knowledge because half these people- maybe more than half- have never bothered to even look at youtube highlights before commenting on players/prospects.:laugh::laugh::huh::help:

The calder trophy means very little. Especially when Lane Hutson is on your team.

A very respectable - 15

Not sure we needed another thread for opposing fans to hate on this player and pretend they’re not extremely envious

The question you should ask yourself is rather why do you care what they think? Who cares about trolls and malcontents? There are plenty of fans from other teams who aren't big babies and very much like Lane Hutson.
