I’m not fully opposed to the Hellebuyk concept. I don’t think we’re anywhere in goal as it is and you put a better team in front of him he can give you Vezina level seasons.

But.

I’m not going to be putting that team in front of him if it’s costing Helenius with Tuch already walking and my top 4 being blown up by Byram’s delusions of grandeur.

There were no big name goalies left in the playoffs after like round one. All their big contracts were watching from home.

If he demands out and they can only get picks and stuff I’m willing to send out…fine. If you start talking Helenius…do not do it.

Chasing a goalie this offseason isn't the answer as far as roster construction goes imo, especially one who costs $8.5m for 5 years. Stick with the devil(s) you know in goal this season. You don't potentially lose Tuch AND prime assets to chase a goalie and create more holes.

Lose Tuch, fine, recoup roster pieces with a Byram trade if it comes to that, as has been discussed.

There's a nice path for this to all work out, and a costly goalie trade isn't it.

UPL and Greenway covers that cost pretty easily.

Makes it so you don't have to carry 3 goalies.

And you can still make it work where you can find a replacement of one of Tuch or Byram.

I have no interest in an aging goalie at that contract, especially giving premium assets.

Honestly, Im concerned we're even in the rumors for him.
If it makes you feel better, unless I missed something, I don’t think we’ve actually gotten any rumor that we’re actively talking to Winnipeg.

It’s all been “Buffalo makes sense for Hellebuyck.” So, more matching fit than actual rumor.

No interest in trading Helenius or Ostlund unless its for a 1C

Those two are the future of this team.

Sabres fan for 55+ years. I hope Jarmo plays the course! Our time is coming quickly! Another year or two. Hopefully scare some team this year. But I pray that we over achieve and shock all😊

it just baffles me that jarmo didn't hold on for kesselring to up his value... especially if he's using byram to get an impact forward. maybe should've keep him as his replacement ??

For me, if we're about loading up next season with the east looking like a blood bath .
