It's that time of year when teams make the push to win the Calder Cup!
Here's the playoff bracket!

Rockford at Chicago for Game 1 is already 10 minutes into OT. It is a dream come true for Milwaukee Admirals fans!

Milwaukee fans should start planning on going to a home game in the Central Division Finals. There's still a possibility that Rockford or Chicago could eliminate the Admirals but I don't see it happening. Probably another Texas vs Milwaukee division final.

All seven of the best of 3 games preliminary round series have now been decided; the league can now fully move onto the division semifinals (best of 5 games).

Speaking of the division semifinals, in the only one of the eight such series that has started as of April 27th, Rochester has taken a 2-0 series lead on Syracuse and now only needs one more win to advance to the division finals.

On a personal note, I'm strongly considering making the drive north from the DC area to attend Game 2 of the Lehigh Valley/Hershey series On Friday, May 2nd. Though I live in the DC area (and used to live in the Harrisburg area), plus root for the Devils in the NHL, I'm originally from the Lehigh Valley, so I follow the Phantoms in the AHL. I think Lehigh Valley has a legitimate chance to upset the 2-time defending Calder Cup champions, but we'll see what happens.

Lehigh Valley evened up their series with Hershey at one game each on Friday night, posting a 3-1 win in Chocolatetown. Game 3 will be played in Allentown on Sunday.

Road teams went 4-0 in Friday night's (May 2nd) games, though in the other three series besides Hershey/Lehigh Valley the higher seeded team won in an early series game being played in a 2-3 series format:

*Laval shut out Cleveland 4-0 to take a 2-0 series lead. The Rocket head home only needing one win to advance to the division finals to play Rochester (who swept Syracuse in 3 straight games). Game 3 is on Sunday.

*Charlotte pounded Providence in the opening game of their series 5-1. Game 2 is on Sunday in Providence.

*Colorado doubled up San Jose 6-3 in Game 1 of their series. The second game is scheduled on Sunday in San Jose.

Incidentally, I ultimately did not attend Friday night's Lehigh Valley at Hershey game, partly due to a long power outage (10 hours) where I live, partly due to doing some job hunt activities earlier in the day.

You  clearly need to reassess your priorities. :sarcasm:

I'm not counting my chickens yet but so far so good for the Icehogs. After beating Chicago in 2 games, they are now up 2-0 over Milwaukee heading back to Rockford for Game-3. Commesso has been outstanding giving up only 4 goals in the 4 games with a save percentage of .970.
