This is a constant topic on our board and it does not have its own thread.

What are the problems and what are the solutions to this historically bad embarrassing PP?

Obviously, it is costing us games.

To my eyes, Pasta a huge issue as (1) they force many plays to him (2) lots of his passes are turnovers and (3) lots of his shots are missed/snake-bitten shots.

Lohrei is not the solution for PP1. We need to figure out something significantly different.

PP2 to the rescue. Having a 6'5 forward take away the eyes of the goalie is a great strategy.

Well, I'm sure Mrs. Sarge feels the same way too!

They are too stationary on the PP. Once everyone is in position, they pass it along the perimeter or to the point. The issue is this doesn't open any passing lanes, and they don't have the personnel that can distribute the puck in those tight areas.

Everyone except the man in front of the net (unless the puck gets behind the net) should be moving their feet to create more passing lanes.

The flanks receive the puck standing still with their toes facing away from the net instead of downhill

- bumper not being used / not shooting enough

- skilled players all slumping at the same time with scoring

- Zadorov shot could be a big weapon from the point and they have him sitting on the bench

- McAvoy is a transition, off the rush offensive dman, not a half court set it up guy

Zadorov has an absolute bomb from the point. On PP2 w Brazeau as the screen it gives PP2 a completely different look to defend.

Power Play 1

1) I think they need a left handed shooter on the right elbow. McAvoy is a passer so he need shooters on both sides. Marchand/Lindholm aren't the answer. Not sure Zacha is the answer either. Maybe that could be a spot for Lohrei. Turnovers would matter less there and he can shoot, he can create his own shot, he likes to shoot.

2) Instead of a having a RH bumper for Marchand on the left elbow, let's give Pasta a LH bumper so he can have pass options and be harder to read.

3) Plant Brazeau's fat ass in front. Brazeau and Coyle are the only 2 guys on the team that actually play with their heels on the crease screening the goalie, and Brazeau has shown a knack for tipping shots.

Put Geekie in the bumper so Marchand has a shoot-first type for that quick pass to the bumper that he likes to make.

It's rather amazing seeing how fast the puck moves on elite power plays.

Not sure I'd practice anything but that, at ever practice, lol.

Just zip it zip it zip it zip it till your hands fall of.

That high tip the wings use should also totally be in ours.

McAvoy doesnt f***ing shoot or carry the puck like he should, He forces too many plays to the outside.

Move faster, think faster and play faster; its easy to defend this PP because they force the same plays and dont make the PK chase.

faster movement opens up the middle for a bumper play or pucks on net for deflections, otherwise your stuck on the perimeter shooting into defenders. Charlie has the skill and gusto to carry that puck around the zone and get the defenders moving, but he defers to the wingers who are trying to do everything themselves because the supporting cast is trash. McAvoy is the big dog and he can be the big dog, so be the f***ing big dog! The best bruins PP point men were the best because they wanted to hold onto the puck and move skate to open up space, not pass back and forth without making the PK change structure.
