There is a LARGE % of Blue Jacket fans who really dislike Ohio St. There is no doubt the team would be there and they would absolutely hate every second of it.
I know the relationship between the team and school has been frosty at best, but they’re gonna pay the school to show up there though.

OSU by 14+ v ND

But if ND pulls off the upset and wins the title, Marcus Freeman will be the Ohio State HC if I had to bet in very short order. Day HAS to win the National title to keep his job especially in a year where they lost to a dogshit Michigan team

No one thinks this lol, they deserved to make the playoffs but they also got their ass kicked by a way better team. Same boat as SMU where you can build on the season but you clearly didn't belong with the top dogs.
Freeman signed a 6-year extension in December I believe.

IU jumped on the "see we belong" wagon as soon as ND beat GA with the tweets about how they lost to ND by less than GA did. They left out it was 27-3 with just over a minute left and got two TDs against backups & with a fluke onside kick.

I think OS wins - ND's very good but has been ravaged by injuries, I don't know who will be back in time for the game. This talk of OS being invincible is weird considering they have lost 2 games this year - one to a 5-loss UM team. And last night's game was pretty close until the last few minutes.

Week until Gameday so let’s look at some history between Ohio State and Notre Dame

This will be the 9th all time meeting between the schools with Ohio State being on a 6 game winning streak. Game history is as follows:

2023: South Bend, IN: OHST 17, ND 14
2022: Columbus, OH: OHST 21, ND 10
2016: Fiesta Bowl: OHST 44, ND 28
2006: Fiesta Bowl: OHST 34, ND 20
1996: South Bend, IN: OHST 29, ND 16
1995: Columbus, OH: OHST 45, ND 26
1936: South Bend, IN: OHST 2, ND 7
1935: Columbus, OH: OHST 13, ND 18

Ohio State 2nd all time in wins 977
Notre Dame 4th all time in wins 962

Both schools have 7 Heisman Trophy winners

Ryan Day 69-10 record (.873%)
Marcus Freeman 33-9 record (.786%)

Ryan Day is a Urban Meyer disciple who won a natty at Ohio State in 2014
Marcus Freeman is a Jim Tressel disciple who won a natty in 2002

And good ole Lou Holtz won a natty at both schools, one as an asst under Woody Hayes in 1968 and as head coach of Notre Dame in 1988

crazy Ohio State fans want a coach fired that is probably like 69-7 versus everyone not named Michigan.

Rivalries are a funny thing in college sports!

If you win the national championship that year it shouldn't matter what happens in the rivalry game, I don't care who you are*. If beating Michigan is more important to a fan than WINNING THE ENTIRE f***ING COLLEGE FOOTBALL THINGYDING then that fan needs to re-evaluate their entire life. You think UF gave a shit that they lost to FSU in the regular season in 1996 after the unlubed-cactus-raping they delivered to us in the Sugar Bowl for the national title? Nope, and nor should they.

*The only exception is the Army-Navy game. That rivalry is WAY, WAY deeper than sports.

Didn’t this all start when The Chill put an arena initiative on the ballot and tOSU built the Schott to tank said initiative?

I wasn't here then, but I think if that wasn't the beginning, it was the main reason for many.

And as a result, the Buckeyes went from a great home court advantage in basketballl to a place with no energy like the Schott. Serves them right, and I'm a Buckeye fan.

Yeah I think that was the catalyst. @Double-Shift Lasse might have some more insight to it since I was only like 5 when that all went down.

As for the Schott, yeah it’s a shithole. An empty hollow cavernous building that has zero character. It’s awful for any event it’s holding.

City started working on how to fund and build a downtown arena. Then a year later then OSU-pres Gee went to his buddies at the statehouse and finagled a handout to give the university not only a leg up but a massive head start. City leaders and area residents who hoped the downtown arena plan would entice the NHL to grant the city an expansion franchise thought perhaps those plans had been scuttled by the university.
