People still bashing Power? His last 10 games has been arguably as good as Dahlin and some areas better.

Docker has some nice stats too.

This is last 10 games.

Samuelsson and Clifton are awful and thats with the team playing well the last 15 games.

Where he is 5th in 5-on-5 TOI for their defensemen? Is that being better or is that being off the ice in crucial situations where others are being asked to do the work?

Ruff changed Power's role the last 20 games or so. Unfortunately Power should have been handled that way 4 years ago when he was first drafted. Power was thrusted into the top 2 role and handed 8 million dollars without having to prove himself or put in the work. He was thrusted into a position he was ready for and no one to mentor.

Buffalo's handling of Power was very poor but he is still the 2nd best defenseman and only 22 and showing progress.

Not sure if just being used less is progress.

I can think of one particular NHLer who had a very good defensive game when he surprisingly broke into the league at 18 who only had 26 points in each of his first two NHL season before becoming a perennial 50-60 point guy with lots of hardware to his name.
I can think of a thread that left scars that still remain

So the defense is a mess and they have a serious injury to their defense corps. That seems like it'll make it less likely that they move much around - I could see them trying to mitigate offensive loss by retaining Byram rather than moving him this summer.

And of course, they won't want to overspend -- no, no, they won't do that -- so it's not like they will LTIR in any way to figure it out later.

To recap where we are heading into a sixth year this unqualified puppet should never see

They have zero proven top six centers who have been healthy enough to play more than three games in the final quarter of the season

The goaltending is a disaster heading towards the same wrong decision for the third year in a row

There is zero toughness as always. The bottom pair and 4th line are disasters who do nothing well

The defense was a disaster before a long term injury to the only d they have besides Dahlin capable of anchoring a pair…with an anchor tied to him every f***ing game of his career

The assistant coaches are a disaster top to bottom and unless they have contracts coming up…we know what will happen there. Matt Ellis is still here btw. Thats how little they give a f***.

They “saved” money to give out extensions to their RFAs and then signed zero of them early leaving their two biggest ticket guys (Peterka and Byram) as question marks going forward.

This is the worse GM in NHL history. They are farther away than when he started.

Allowing him to make any of these decisions is a disaster that will set the franchise back another five years

Can't really say you're wrong.

I think what's worse is, even if GMKA is fired into the sun, which we all know is fairly unlikely, it's not like a new GM can turn this around ASAP. They may be taking the job under the same constraints we believe GMKA to be under. And even if they are not and have free reign to do as they please, it would still be tough to right this ship.

If anyone thinks it's actually possible, I mean just look at the rest of the division and the players they ice as their top 9 forwards.

Wait until UPL and Levi are the goalies next year.

I don't see any of those as a fit. Rust and Rackell are both shooters. Its the lack of playmakers that is one of the big issues. I want to get more experience in our group...but both those seem like square pegs in a round hole.
3 of the top 4 Sabres in assists this season are D.

Here is the assist chart for forwards:
Peterka - 40a (2nd on team)
McLeod - 31a (t-4th)
Zucker - 31a (t-4th)
Tuch - 30a (7th)
Thompson - 28a (8th)
Quinn - 23a (9th)

And Norris has 91g 67a in 239 career NHL games. So, he's another guy that has been more of a scorer than a playmaker so far in his career.

Kulich had 15g 9a in his 61 games in Buffalo this season. Along with 53g 41a in 123 AHL games. So, he's also a guy that has been more of a scorer than a playmaker so far in his NA pro career.

They definitely need a veteran playmaker in the mix.

Benson has been on an OReilly pace as an 18 and 19 year old. There is zero chance he is in Rochester next year.

He's also s pkayer who is waiver exemption and needs to score more.
Also, that doesn’t preclude them from potentially seeking Drury this summer. It does seem that certain guys are players that Adams seeks out. We shall see.

Sam Bennett might also be a solid, if pricey, option if you're looking for a guy to get scummy.
How much and who gets moved yo afford him?

Any word in type if injury?

I agree. They also are nothing 32+ in age a nd have 4 full seasons left.

Not trading our recent top 40 draftef pkayers for them st fill price. Rakell can only produce with very good centers

So Mitts is the target?

For a hometown guy like Iafallo? Eh, he would've ticked a lot of boxes for me - PK, PP2, very good defensively, responsible vet with hometown ties.
He was never going to be a UFA, and was never going to sign in Buffalo if he was.

We’ve been talking about getting him to Buffalo for years, could’ve just traded for him if they wanted him. Waiting until UFA is just stupid because he becomes free, and almost every team can make a better sales pitch than Buffalo.

Adams should be identifying another similar player and trade for him, but he’s not able to so here we are.

The way out of this mess is through trades, we can’t keep avoiding trades and expecting to get better.

While I generally agree, there's a few names out there that would be a nice fit here.

I know Gavrikov is left-handed, but he'd be exactly what we need.
Well he’s not exactly what we need because he’s left handed. And again, wouldn’t come to Buffalo in a million years because he has other options

Was speaking specifically of this summer for this particular player. Fully aware of and desire the need for them to make astute trades to change the mess they've made, particularly with the continued leaning into one-way, small-playing offensive forwards and defensemen who are incompetent at basic defensive play. Shuffling out some like Quinn or using Peterka to get a defenseman is going to create a hole at forward that I would rather they fill with someone like Zucker than someone like Rosen. AI was the lowest hanging fruit in that regard.

Buffalo can never catch a break. Another player opting for palm trees, sunshine, and low taxes.

Exactly. 🤣

Also funny to hear some Jet fans talking up how he likes the same sort of things many of the Bills players like who stay in B’lo - fishing and hunting and wilder spaces. Ironically, I know a bunch of the Bills linemen all live out in Eden and have for years.

Iafallo is the player we wish Greenway was. And he signed for less than Greenway to stay in WPG.
