Also for the use prospects to buy crowd:

There's a main board post about trading for active players. I listed all the notable prospects and even the top 5 2025 1st. Zero interest. People have asked about Tuch, Byram, Cozens.

Dylan Cozens should not have the puck on his stick ... he doesn't have any puck skills. I think our lack of true center men consequently hurts certain wingers.

Cozens should be parking in front of and crashing the net.

I love Cozens like a brother, but there NO WAY Dylan cozens should have the puck ON HIS STICK at ANY TIME in a BUFFALO SABRES HOCKEY GAME

Of course... its trade deadline time.

The good news is whenever Pittsburgh pulls the plug on Crosby we'll be the only team with prospects to trade for him

The deadline aside, I would wonder at what fans are willing to do vs. what teams are willing to do. But I don't think most teams are in high level prospect moving mode as either a trader or a recipient at this time. Peripheral guys I could see - like the return in the Vanacek deal looks like SJ trying to inject more beef into the AHL lineup since long runs in that league seem to require more size these days). Or like, the Fiala deal with Minny getting Faber and a first was a draft thing. Adams hasn't gotten things done in a timely fashion so now there are too many prospects for not enough development spots and they're just chewing up potential talent without having the cycles to give to them and the enforced hierarchy of the high picks play the important minutes.

Sorry... ran off topic. Might need more coffee.

I've very curious who you have in those two categories as possible targets.

I have no idea who is available, I think most of the guys I'd really like are untouchable.

Forwards:
  • I'd throw an immense amount of assets at STL for Holloway.
  • Is Vegas disappointed with Barbashev's injuries and looking to get out from his contract? Probably another pipe dream.
  • I'd make make Rantanen an offer to be the highest paid player in the league if he'd take it. :dunno:
As for defense, my last best idea was Pesce, but we missed the boat on him.
  • I've been on the Weegar train for years. Calgary has to feel similar to us, they can't just keep doing the same things every year, they gotta shake things up. I'd offer Power for him straight up.
  • Does Boston want to get out from under Lindholm's contract, even if they did he has trade protection, so another pipe dream...
I had no idea Marcus Pettersson was available when he was traded, but that's the exact type of guy I'd be looking for (obviously I'd strongly prefer a righty, but I would have taken him).

If the reports are true about Greenway, I love the deal!

Not sure why he would sign it tho...

Maybe his agent put out feelers and his market isn’t looking too hot. His health and production haven’t been great. In theory he should be a good 3rd liner, but has produced more like a 4th liner.

Greenway deal great. Fine with paying Zucker too. Because you either do it or you’re looking for a new Greenway and Zucker anyway…and they aren’t the spots tanking the franchise.

I just don’t believe this GM has the stomach to rid the roster of what needs to go…and I know he doesn’t have the ability to replace them.

Still on the Whitecloud/Kesselring train and dreaming of Weegar. Add a top 6 C and a winger to the top 6 if Zucker gone.

I think the most apt comparison to prospect vs draft pick value is to like having a new car on the lot vs a pre owned car.

Cars lose value when they drive off the lot. A few will appreciate, but most don't.

Draft picks typically lose value after you use them. Yes, you get a prospect and yes maybe that prospect becomes a player. But, the liquidity of draft picks is usually more valuable than prospects that may or may not fit another teams needs.

That makes no sense, if he knew we were desperate he'd hold out for 3 or 4 years. Some of you are so broken you can't even acknowledge a potentially solid, fair deal.
Or... I'm correct and Greenway knows there aren't going to be a better deals than what we gave him.

I didn't even say he was bad, just that his availability stinks.

AFP had him 4 x $3.8M. Contenders pay players like him. He’d have easily gotten the reported deal on the market, and probably more.
Then Greenway is an idiot for not taking a better deal from a better team.

Come on, he good player
I never said he wasn't. I said he's never healthy enough to play more than ~60 or so games a season.
