Well, sure. That doesn’t matter to me, although, you may want to let the new GM decide whether to try to sign Greenway.
Greenway may be another contract or two into his career before there is a new Sabres GM.

:sarcasm:

Nope. I'm tuning out until the playoffs. Not even excited for the TDL because I have zero faith in Adams building a playoff team let alone a contender.
They aren't close enough to the playoffs for him to build a contender at this year's TDL.

I just mean in general- I'm not excited about any moves he'll be making in the future. There's so much work to be done, and he's not the guy to get it done, so it feels as though we're just treading water until he's fired, which kills even the slightest of excitement I'd get for the TDL.

Do we really have to go back to watching this?

I don't think that Adams is going to make a huge move between now and the deadline.

I am just expecting a selloff pending UFA for a pick deal and nothing more. I don't know why you wouldn't want Adams to trade Jokiharju and Greenway for picks if they have no interest in re-signing this summer.
I agree. I think TP likes extra picks that he can put in his scouting excel spreadsheet. Kinda like extra lives in Candy Crush. I think that is the extent of his interest in the Sabres at the moment.

I wonder if you said the same thing before the last TDL?

Adams apparently said he wouldn't be a seller and was looking for a hockey deal like Mitts for Byram.

At least last year there was wide reporting about Karmanos going to several Avs games. I don’t think we’ve seen any of that this season.
Karmanos went to Detroit games and not only him. Maybe he was somewhere else. The deal can come out of nowhere or old connections. By the way, the Carolina GM said that all these negotiations are conducted all season and sometimes you return to them and a deal is made.

12 months out, that deal is working out slightly better than I felt at the time.

Could he make a biggish move? Sure. Is he likely to make a biggish move that is immediately regrettable long term and get fired this summer?

I do not see that playing out. At all.

I was curious if that was related to actual trade talks or he just wanted to see a wings game when he was visiting family over the holidays. Karmanos are big names in Junior Hockey in Michigan as well.

There were some reports that he was in attendance for both Detroit and Grand Rapids games, not all in Michigan.

Jeremiah Crowe was there a few more times, including with Karmanos.

Let's see, they might not fire him, especially knowing Terry.

Correct. Adams can't make all of the moves necessary to build a contender at this TDL.

BUT... he could make the first substantial move, in a series of substantial moves between this years TDL and the start of next season that lead to the playoffs next season.

We all know he won't, but it's theoretically possible. Every big window of trade activity seems to come and go with nothing of substance from Adams.

Yep

Yep
They need to do something non-trivial if they expect to sell any tickets for next year, don't they? Surely they have to know running it all back will be financial poison for them. Don't they?

The ongoing Sabres dilemma ...

Which is worse:

1. Adams does nothing?
2. Adams does something?
Bad moves are always worse than no moves.

I've been saying the one good thing about having Adams as a GM during a rebuild is that he isn't making bad value panic trades. Other posters take that to mean that I am saying he shouldn't make trades, which is not at all what it means. It just means that at least he's not Milbury.

It's all about perspective ;)

You can make good trades, it's much better than doing nothing when your team fails again. Adams burned out.
