Lightning fans were shocked when I told them Connor Geekie wasn't enough for a deal for Tuch.

Sabres need PROVEN talent - If Tampa wants to deal Cirelli+? I'm listening
I have been a fan of Cirelli for a long time.

But, I don't see the fit with McLeod here. Especially if Tuch is going the other way.

I just don't see a fit where Tuch goes to TB for a vet that makes the Sabres better.

Cernak would make us better. But there ain't no way he's waiving to come here.....even if the Lightning were dumb enough to entertain trade offers for him.

That is a hard pass for me.

The Sabres need more adults and fewer kids in the room. They should keep and extend Tuch over trading him for a package like that.

There is a similar one for the Kings.

Given where the Lightning are, they won't want to give up quality veterans unless they are really overpaid and TB needs the cap space.

So, I don't see a great fit given that Cernak is their primary defensive RHD.

Well, it is still an indictment of Sabres management. They extended a guy at $3 million, whose skill-set doesn’t mesh with the team’s style and lack of structure. The Joker situation is similar to the Olofsson situation last year. There was likely a point in the summer of 2023, where we could have traded Olofsson with retention and used the money saved to bring in a player that Granato would have had confidence in and utilized. Instead we kept Olofsson at $4.75 and he became a part-time player. There is a lack of cohesion between our management team and coaching staff (see Joker, Aubé-Kubel, Lafferty). We spend a lot of money on players who don’t end up providing much value.
Why would any sane organization not just assemble a roster of goddamned children but have a coaching staff that has no structure whatsoever?

How does Kevyn Adams still have a f***ing job???

Lord have mercy, we're going to be searching for a 1C for another decade, aren't we? The salt in the wound is we had two on our roster, but traded them away. Not arguing whose fault it is those players wanted out, but man- it just sucks.

May have had three but never put the one at C until the very end.

Yeah, it really was a Risto Redux

You don't want Sheary back? How else will we know where the blue lines are without him tripping over them every shift?

I’m going to reiterate my belief that Pegula SHOULD intervene and put handcuffs on Adams. Kev SHOULD be a lame duck. This roster SHOULD remain mostly intact through the end of the season, so that when, what SHOULD be a new, experienced and qualified GM can do their own evaluation in the offseason. There SHOULD be an overhaul to the roster this summer.

I’m of the belief that all of these SHOULDs will be wonts. But, I will try to keep one hope up.

Does Pegula really need to tell Kevyn Adams to do nothing?

I'm sure there will be a bunch of "oh gee, we haven't paid any attention to the Sabres but here is another deal with a pick, a mid prospect, and some random body" proposals that have the passive-aggressive attachment of "if they FINALLY want to start to do something" pocketed within from all sorts of "sources".

I don't think that Adams is going to make a huge move between now and the deadline.

I am just expecting a selloff pending UFA for a pick deal and nothing more. I don't know why you wouldn't want Adams to trade Jokiharju and Greenway for picks if they have no interest in re-signing this summer.
I will also be waiting for the, we did not want to disturb the chemistry in Rochester quote from Adams. ;)

Well, sure. That doesn’t matter to me, although, you may want to let the new GM decide whether to try to sign Greenway.
