I'd still try to get Pettersson by adding Cozens into the deal, but overall I think we could find a good deal elsewhere that would fill some of our gaps.

Right now I'd take our other three centers over Cozens and they were better than him. So either you move him to the wing, which is also not a guarantee of success, who knows, maybe his processor just broke. Or trade him in a hockey deal and plug the holes in the lineup.
Whats interesting is he seems like the prototypical Lindy Ruff type of player yet he is struggling.

Thats why I get the feeling he doesnt want to be here.

I also don't understand why Ruff keeps playing him at center, it doesn't work, even with our best forwards. Anyone who starts playing Cozens on the line seems to immediately drop their metrics. At this point I'd even prefer Krebs at center over Cozens, not to mention McLeod and Kulich.

Adams can't acquire star players, only move them away.

That said, it would certainly get me to watch again.
I mean he can't get any players, not even a free Fabbro. Jokiharju is too important for him.

But acquiring Pettersson was a huge first step in the right direction toward the playoffs next season.

I wonder what Sabres NHL ready prospects Dubas is interested in ?
Johnson and Levi come to mind.

Don't think they would let Ostlund go (and he he far from nhl ready most would agree) with what Pens players have been mentioned and I'm not sure how regarded Rosen is around the league really?

Helenius and Walhberg would be off limits for me

I can let a big prospect go from the pool with it looking like a top 5 pick coming in the summer.

Pittsburgh has nothing that they would trade thst would warrant trading any of the Sabres top 20 U24

Fabbro is nothing special. This isn’t a hill to die on.

Fabbro is a great complementary top 4 RD who had success playing with Josi on the top pairing in the Preds and is now playing with Werenski on the top pairing in Columbus, so yeah, it's a hell of a miss when you go five years without adding a top 4 RD to your lineup.

Kevyn need action.

So did mcNabb with Doughty. Doesn’t make him a top 4

He is not a top 4 RD

What nonsense, he plays 20 minutes a game and plays well, same thing he did in the Preds with Josi last season. You don't need a star defenseman for that or an expensive one, you just need the right guys to help on defense and complement players like Dahlin and Power. Fabbro is exactly that.

There are many players who could go through a stretch of games played well...especially those trying to get a contrsct. Does not make them to better than what they are

He does, he does a good job with certain players and he plays top 4 time, he's done that before. So yeah, he would probably be a good top 4 player for us, especially considering we only have Clifton and Jokiharju and we've tried playing Jokiharju with Dahlin and Power many times and it didn't work. I just don't agree that Fabbro didn't make sense for us, just no, period.

When one of the issues with the defense structure is a proven vet presence to pair with Dahlin, and Power, and Buffalo could’ve helped themselves with a cost effective move, at a time that Adams has stated how hard it is to make moves, yeah it’s a hell of a hill to die on no matter your thoughts on the player.

Seeing as Fabbro has done a good enough job as a support role for top 4 players, it makes it more of a head scratching lack of a move. Add in the benefit of knocking one 6-7 defenseman down a spot, and another out of a regular spot and it’s a small move that could’ve helped improve a unit on the ice.

Why is it always the best teams getting the best players or at least in on it.

Vegas
Florida
Colorado
Carolina

While Kevyn Adams sits on his ass claiming he is working the phones.
He may be working the phone, but the man is more than likely delusional in thinking that his assets are valued higher than most likely view them are around the league.

The problem is that he has next to no leverage in anything as he doesn’t weaponize things he should, for example his cap space, as his player assets are a dime a dozen players, that teams most likely already have in their pipeline and have flaws due to a lack under development.

Teams seem to only check in with him to see if they can get Pennies in a dollar for some Buffalo players at a time of panic.

I want two Pettersons, actually.
Power or Byram+ for E. Pettersson
Something (Peterka?) for M.Pettersson +
I think they want a forward + defenseman for E. Pettersson, but I think we could get M. Pettersson cheaper than Peterka, but he's also a UFA in the summer, so it won't be easy to get him to sign an extension.

Rantanen for Necas (basically). Wowza!

But no deals are out there-Sabres management

When the Sabres were stupidly shopping ROR, players like Lindholm, Hanafin, and Hamilton were available and traded elsewhere for each other. The Sabres traded ROR for prospects and cap dumps because the owner wanted the trade done before he had to pay ROR his bonus.

When the Sabres were shopping Eichel, players like Matt Tkachuk and Weeger were available and were traded for each other.

Now Necas and Rantanen get traded for each other.

If Petterson ends up traded anywhere but Buffalo for anything less than an absurd overpayment, I'm going to be pissed.

I mean, he though this team could make the playoffs. He probably overvalues the players by 250%

Cozens needs to be traded before he loses all value.
I have a hard time to believe scouts don't see what we all see. Even if he can improve he'll just continue to get worse while staying on the Sabres.

Friedman on HNIC has the Sabres among the favorites, if not the favorite, for Pettersson after Carolina deal fell through
Friedman doesn't drop sabres info unless he's very confident as he constantly talks about how tight lipped the Sabres org is. This has got to have some smoke.

But i also wouldn't be shocked if it's Vancouver trying to get a Miller deal across the finish line.
