They keep winning…? When did this happen?

The Sabres are 6-5 since the losing streak ended.

I could see why a team like Detroit maybe put trade talks on hold (7 game win streak and 8-1 in their last 9 games). But not Buffalo.

McLellan has been an excellent change for the Wings. Imagine hiring a coach and it vaulting a team into playoff conversation? :biglaugh:

As fans, that is what we think should happen. The reality is there is only a finite amount of moves available at certain times. I will agree, he needs to do something. Was hoping for a claim on Ludvig.
Bullshit.

For f***s sake what koolaid do they have you mainlining for them?

Every struggling team this year has done SOMETHING. Fired someone. Waived someone. Traded someone.

Everyone but ONE.

One team hasn’t done anything. Every player snug and safe. Every assistant this coach didn’t hire finds their keycard still works. The GM has vanished in every way but the one that should be done.

Don’t accept their outlier non competitiveness as the norm.

It isn’t.

It is strictly Buffalo. Now with more whining about taxes and palm trees and dodging fan events.

And don’t now move the goalposts to “fans just want them to do something to do something”. Because that’s bullshit too. Fans, people who care about the team that has been gutted and destroyed by this ownership and his puppet GM, want them to do something because they’ve f***ing tried all the doing nothing that can be tried. They are in last place in the conference after all that nothing. You can’t be worse than last. You can’t be worse than nothing. Adams is nothing. Pegula is nothing. Excuses for them are nothing.

Certain times is the last 3-4 years? I feel like we have this conversation every year and Adams still continues to lose stupidly. Who does he need? Fabbro, Borgen and Carrier have been available in the last 1-2 months. There were 3-4 more RDs available in the summer, all without trade protection. Kevyn has done nothing, he is just a weakling.

This is the worst constructed roster in the league. The Predators MIGHT be as bad, but nobody is worse. That said, you could fix this team with 4 moves, plus a wholesale coaching change. Moves are hard, but GMTM got it done. Another GM could do it. Kyvyn cannot. You can't do it without overpaying. Kyv overpayed for McLeod, which, was one of his best moves as a GM. But you need to do that at a greater scale.

Trying to pair the eye test with analytics and watch some players with good reputations., especially defensively.

Dowd is first on the agenda and the thing that immediately stands out is general engagement. Plays like a dog, but also constantly scanning. Looking for space, looking for teammates, tracking opponents. I guess I don't watch single players too often which makes it harder to notice, but I feel like our guys don't play like that consistently. Will make a point to try to watch for it a bit more.
Sabres tried to trade for Dowd last deadline. I'm assuming the price was more than they were willing to pay. Instead they signed Aube-Kubel and traded for Malenstyn.

Kevin Adams blames his fear of what the media might say on palm trees.

Botterill tried the rhd thing and it didn't work so we can never invest in one again.
I know it's a joke, but Adams' incompetence in this matter is simply astounding. Botterill clearly made a mistake with the coaches and he didn't trade Risto. Although we could have had a good defense with the right coach.

Dahlin - good mentor
McCabe - Montour

For some reason Botterill (or Terry) didn't want to trade Risto + Asplund for Ehlers + Appleton.

Good breakdown by Lance. And not a particularly surprising result. It's UPL's first full season as a starter, and it's showed at times. He seems to be struggling with both the physical workload and mental pressure that comes with the job. It would be nice to have a second goalie on the roster who could spell him for a few games so he can reset both physically and mentally. Similar to cutting back a struggling young skater's ice time for a stretch. But I'm not sure Reimer's up to the task. He's been getting 40 year old Craig Anderson type usage for the past year or so. It just feels like this is yet another area where they needed to do more than they did.

The front office has made it perfectly obvious to the roster that there is no urgency to win. The roster is now comfortable, complacent, or despondent. Everybody is taking a turn on IR, no desperation on the ice...of course UPL looks bad right now with a half-speed team in front of him. The front office actually instills a losing attitude to everybody that puts the sweater on.

Are you f'in kidding me? The Detroit Red Wings are ahead of us now? I haven't looked at the standings in a while. If Ottawa AND Detroit AND Montreal have pulled ahead of us, then I'll just...laugh maniacally!
Buffalo is firmly in last place in the division. Detroit (in 7th place) is 7pts ahead. Montreal is 9pts ahead. Ottawa is 11 pts. ahead (and currently in front of Boston too).

In fact, there are only 3 teams in the entire NHL with less wins than Buffalo. The Sabres are currently tied with Nashville (39 pts) for 3rd last place in the NHL. Only Chicago and San Jose have less points than the Sabres.

TBF I think you are attributing to malice what is much more likely due to stupidity and incompetence.

He has shown signs of fatigue in the past. He starts to lose his crease and not be as calm with his movements as his strings of consecutive games goes along. Not necessarily a bad thing, just a thing now that 50-ish game starters are the way.

Its because Adams in his stupidity again relied on Levi coming in and taking the bull by the horns.. (unfairly.. again)

I just watched Sens vs. Devils game. I just don't understand how hard it is to build a defense like those teams, balanced, two lefties and two righties in the top 4. Why do we constantly have to suffer, with four lefties in the top 4, three PMDs, which to me look like a luxury and a more valuable asset in a trade. Adams just let RDs go one after another this summer and three more in November-December. There is something to be disappointed about here.

I can say about the attack the same thing, when you throw kids into playing with each other for all these years, when other teams first add good vets and play kids with them so that they develop properly, and not like us.
