I could see Tage absolutely tearing it up again in a 1A/1B role at centre. Let him be one of The Guys with EP and Dahlin and see him blossom like Reinhart as one of The Guys with Barkov and Tkachuk

Tage is hockey stupid. No great players are hockey stupid. I don't care what they do off the ice. He seems like a nice guy, but he isn't a 1C.

He's not perfect, he has gaffes like last night, but the team generally has good results with him on the ice, and we know it's not as if JJ and Tuch are carrying the iq. He gets a lot of o-zone minutes but that doesnt negate the results either

In a perfect world we get a top C and slide him down, but I don't think its necessary if we were to get a solid 2C

Way I see it, there are like 10 Centres in the league at best that are both elite at scoring and great defensively. Most other Cs either don't produce at the elite numbers or are not amazing defensively. It's why teams often try to create a somewhat defensive line.

I agree with you that people are getting carried away when it comes to discussing Tage's deficiencies. If we'd had a competent 2nd line from the beginning of the year i really don't think we'd be in the hole we are in. That being said, I don't mind the idea of a EP taking over 1C duties and Tage being one of the best 2Cs in the league.

Lots of chatter out there about JT Miller possibly going to the Rangers soon. I don't see them also trading Pete in another deal.

Cozens is younger, producing at a higher rate 5v5 than EP, and has shown flashes of offensive ability, and still carries the defensive "workhorse" identity.

Risto was 2 years older, failed the stats test and eyeball test at every opportunity, and still returned a first rounder. To the credit of Philly, he's had much better analytics since he got out of here. While cozens value is far from peak I wouldn't be surprised if a 23 year old who has the "intangibles", and has actually had some success holds value around the league.

Not sure what to do with Byram without knowing the desired contract. Seems to be tradition of this team to give guys who are in contract years prime minutes that elevate their stats. He's played almost all of his time with power and Dahlin

No, I'm not talking about this season specifically, but in general these are two players of completely different levels. We know that Pettersson has problems with Miller and his performance is falling with him, apparently there is a serious conflict, plus there may be an injury, he is not playing now. Also, Cozens has this contract. If he had a bridge, he could be more valuable. So far, no one has paid the right price for him, although there was smoke. But look for yourself, Pettersson is a proven 1C, Cozens now does not even look like a 2C, Pettersson has a higher hockey IQ, he really plays much better defense than Cozens, he is better on the PP, a better playmaker, even his shot seems better. Cozens is only more physical and faster, that's all his advantages, which he also does not always use.

I think that if you add a center with Pettersson's skill and defensive ability, who would likely be playing heavy minutes late in games, it'd help fix the biggest problem this team has - holding leads.

Reading these boards, one would think this team was getting blown out 5-1 every game, but the truth is that if this team could win the games they have third period leads in and get the games they are tied in the third period just to overtime, and then lose, they would be one point behind Florida, in third place in the division, and a solid 7 points up on the wildcard spot.

Now much of that is coaching, but having a strong, two-way center is also a pretty big key to solving the issue.

I wonder if he really gets used too much in that role.

He is 7th amongst Canucks forwards in SHTOI/G this season at just under 1 minute a game.

He also is winning just 44% of his faceoffs this season. That's less than ideal for a guy that you want icing a game late.

Jeff Marek had a Vancouver guy on his show Friday and he felt like JT Miller was the guy that was going to get moved. And he hated it because he thinks that the Canucks need a guy in the room that hates to lose as much as Miller does.

The challenge there is what would the trade look like. They talked about Mika Z for Miller. But, Zibs would have to waive to go to Vancouver and who knows if he would...

Based on my count...

5 games they had 3rd period leads and came away with 3 pts. Pitt. Det, both COL, Mon,

Other games they had 2 g leads and came away with no points ( first Toronto game in slump was one up 3-1 in 2nd then lost 5-3 on EN goal)

They have had I think 5-6 games they were tied late in the game and came away with no points. At dallas was the latest. Homr opener against kings. Washington was another.

Then there were games ( maybe 5 others) that were one goal games for the most part that a reliable PP might have meant getting at least at point. In these one goal loses ( excluding ENs). Minnesota was one.

Then you have thr second Toronto games where 2 goals were disallowed or they were the better team but they seem to get a hot goalie

using an NFL stat line... I see this team on the short end of one score games. I think the chiefs this year are something like 11-0 in one score games and a team like Cincinnati is 3-7.

Sabres are similarly on the short end where small things could have had different outcomes.

I just think he tries to do too much which gets him in trouble.If we get EP it will take some pressure off of him and he can play his game and really explode then
